Taking us right back to the first week of 2011 it's Martin Solveig who scored his biggest hit in my chart to date with the glorious 'Hello'. Having already wormed its way into the affections of the French singles chart, it wasn't long before this track was a massive hit across the rest of Europe. The tennis inspired music video for 'Hello' was absolute genius and I'd encourage more dance music video directors to think about the box and create more brilliant concepts.

We've already seen Bruno Mars at #37 and #32. 'Grenade' provided Bruno Mars with a fourth consecutive chart topper back in January and finishes 2011 as the 23rd biggest hit in my chart.

When confirmations opened for BJSC XXXVIII, I had a shortlist of three songs to enter into the competition. At first I was going to choose this slice of brilliance but having witnessed the most "pop" results from BJSC XXXVII, I decided to go against Lykke Li and entered André Ola 'Erase You' which ultimately backfired as it DNQ. Whether Lykke Li would've qualified, we will never know. It probably didn't help that Lykke Li had already won BJSC earlier in 2011 (pre-Batidas existance) with a far inferior song, imo. So because of that, I didn't enter this song. Nonetheless, it's success in Europe made me pay more attention to this track and after everything it still ended up topping my chart for one week back in October.

Somebody, call Dandy*!!! :D Just missing out on a place inside my top 20 singles of 2011 it's Dandy's debut entry into BJSC under the country name of Fljótavík. Blissful electro pop with hypnotic vocals, this track slowly climbed its way to the top of my chart in its fourth week on the chart - much to the surprise of Dandy* himself...

HITS HITS HITS HITS HITS HITS HITS HITS HITS HITS HITS HITS! :cheer:

Kicking off the top 20 singles of 2011 is Will Young who scored two top 3 singles taken from the release of his fifth studio album 'Echoes'. 'Come On' finished the year at no. 41 whilst at no. 20 we have 'Jealousy' which peaked at #2 back in August.

"when I came to Spain and saw people partying, I thought to myself WHAT THE f***?". Spanish DJ/producer Sak Noel found chart success throughout Europe with 'Loca People' becoming one of the years biggest European dance hits. Having discovered the track myself via the Russian and Romanian charts (where the track first got popular) I instantly took a 50/50 opinion on the song. I didn't like it or hate it, I wasn't entirely sure what I thought. After about two months and more European chart domination, I found myself slowly succomb to its rather bizarre charm leading to the track entering my chart but not peaking until six weeks later. With what felt like a lifetime after its European success, 'Loca People' finally made it to #1 in the UK. I reckon had the track been released earlier in the UK, it might not have been a no. 1 single but I reckon it would've sold a lot more copies. Priorities!!! :D

Without doubt one of the most successful breakthrough artists of 2011. In fact, with three UK top 10 singles (two with major longevity) and a UK #1 album to his name, you could argue that Ed Sheeran is THE breakthrough artist of 2011. This is Ed's first of two appearances in my Chart of 2011 with one of the most unlikely, but all the better for it, hits of the summer.

From the first time I heard the opening synth sequence to this song, I knew Example had hit solid gold. By far my fave Example track to date and deservedly his biggest selling single so far too. If Example has the ability to keep making tracks this ace, then here is an act who should be around for a long time. Prior to this track, Example's previous biggest hit in my chart was, somewhat surprisingly, 'Last Ones Standing' despite that track not exactly lighting up the UK charts.

Just like in the UK (and all over the world in fact) there's no denying that Adele has pretty much OWNED 2011. This is Adele's first of three appearances inside my top 40 of 2011...and I'm already at #16? Massive!!! :o I don't compile album charts but if I did then it's safe to say '21' would be my runaway no. 1 album of 2011 too. Despite its peak of #11 in the UK charts, it was really pleasing to see this track as the 27th biggest selling single of 2011 - outselling about half of the years UK #1 singles.

Finishing 2011 as the 15th biggest hit of 2011, it's my summer anthem!!! *.* The track had been doing the rounds thanks to its use in the Lucozade advert. Also benefitting from a held back release with two months of radio/video airplay the track opened with impressive sales of over 140k. At that point I thought 'Louder' had a good chance of holding onto the no. 1 for a few weeks as its sales decreased quite slowly. That didn't happen. Instead the track only managed just one week atop the UK charts but fared much better with 4 weeks at no. 1 in my chart.

Over the years Beyonce has enjoyed a fair amount of success in my personal chart. Despite just the one chart topper in my history ('Beautiful Liar' in 2007), Beyoncé had visited my top 10 with eight different singles pre-2011. So with the release of a new album following the success of the mighty 'I Am...Sasha Fierce', it seemed like '4' could potentially be another big era. It wasn't!!! :drama: With four singles released from the album, only 'Best Thing I Never Had' was good enough for my top 10. So much so that it actually gained popularity and hit the no. 1 spot in its sixth week on my chart.

The ultimate grower track, Kanye West scored his biggest hit in my chart back in April with 'All Of The Lights'. Having started out as a new entry at no. 14, the track eventually peaked at #2 some five weeks later. Even then, in its third week stalling at no. 2 it was in touching distance of the top spot but couldn't quite get there. Regardless, it outperforms Kanye's previous most successful hit in my chart; 'Stronger' (#3) from 2007 by collecting more than double the points that 'Stronger' accumulated during its time on my chart.

Romanian dance music got a real boost in 2009 following the early success of Edward Maya which lasted well into 2010. Then along came Inna who herself scored a couple of top 10 hits in my chart. However, it's Alexandra Stan who has given Romania its biggest hit in my chart. After spending 8 weeks at no. 1 in Romania, 'Mr. Saxobeat' started taking off in Eastern Europe before moving onto central Europe. By the time I joined BJSC, this track had been around for a good three months and was entered by People's Republic of Jester in BJSC XXXIII where I awarded the track 12 points. It went on to reach no. 2 in my chart, kept off the top spot by my own entry - the now infamous BJSC debut winning entry for Batidas...

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa129/Hitstastic/2011/davidguetta-titanium.jpg 11. David Guetta feat. Sia - Titanium [#3]

Just missing out on a place inside my top 10 of 2011, it's 'Titanium' by David Guetta featuring the soaring spine tingling vocals from Sia. Hard to believe that Sia scored a no. 1 hit in my chart in 2010 with 'Clap Your Hands' despite its UK release being cancelled at the last minute. Either that or the song just bombed but I don't like to think of the track in that respect!!! ^_^ So it was quite refreshing when I heard this track for the first time. I'd already heard the horror that was 'Little Bad Girl' (surely Guetta's worst single...ever!!!) so this made me realise that Guetta was capable of producing excellent tracks. Looking at how David Guetta has performed in the past, 'Titanium' is now his second biggest hit in my chart. His most successful hit remains 'When Love Takes Over' which dominated my chart in 2009.

I'm off for another break so let's quickly recap 11-20:

11. David Guetta feat. Sia - Titanium

12. Alexandra Stan - Mr. Saxobeat

13. Kanye West - All Of The Lights

14. Beyonce - Best Thing I Never Had

15. DJ Fresh feat. Sian Evans - Louder

16. Adele - Set Fire To The Rain

17. Example - Changed The Way You Kiss Me

18. Ed Sheeran - The A Team

19. Sak Noel - Loca People

20. Will Young - Jealousy

It's time to check out the top 10 biggest hits of 2011 according to Hitstastic. :D

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa129/Hitstastic/2011/coldplay-paradise.jpg 10. Coldplay - Paradise [#4]

Whilst 'Every Teardrop Is A Water', the lead single from Coldplay's fifth studio album 'Mylo Xyloto', finished at #26 in my Chart of 2011, 'Paradise' has fared considerably better. An act who have collected a strong of top 10 hits in my chart since 2004, 'Paradise' has actually overtaken 'Viva La Vida' this week to become Coldplay's biggest hit in my chart. Impressive for a single that peaked at #4. :o

This time last year it was inevitable that Jessie J was going to top the BBC Sound of 2011 poll but was all the hype justified in the end? It's debatable as for me, I've found Jessie J to be just as inconsistant as previous years' winner Ellie Goulding. However, whilst I didn't understand the love for 'Do It Like A Dude', 'Price Tag' changed my opinion upon its release in February. It's only taken Jessie J almost 12 months to release another song I've liked nearly as much with 'Domino'.

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa129/Hitstastic/2011/agnesobel-riverside.jpg 08. Agnes Obel - Riverside [#1]

Here it is!!! :D The track that introduced Batidas to the wonderful world of BJSC not forgetting of course 'Riverside' provided Batidas with a debut win. :D A track I discovered via Denmark's singles chart when searching for my first BJSC entry. A beautiful yet haunting stripped back piano ballad with just Obel's almost fragile vocals laid over the top. If Adele was so successful in 2011, why wasn't this?!!! Still think this is an incredible song.

What I like out of your 11-15:

11. David Guetta feat. Sia - Titanium  (Best song this era)

12. Alexandra Stan - Mr. Saxobeat

14. Beyonce - Best Thing I Never Had

15. DJ Fresh feat. Sian Evans - Louder

16. Adele - Set Fire To The Rain

17. Example - Changed The Way You Kiss Me

18. Ed Sheeran - The A Team

19. Sak Noel - Loca People

20. Will Young - Jealousy

21. Le Prix & Johan Agebjörn feat. Lake Heartbeat - Watch The World Go By (ANTHEMIC. Should have made the TBO final :()

22. Lykke Li - I Follow Rivers (The Magician Remix) (why did I never chart this? :drama:)

24. Martin Solveig feat. Dragonette - Hello

25. SX - Black Video

Great chart, apart from your odd Bruno Mars obsession, but never mind :heehee:

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa129/Hitstastic/2011/edsheeran-legohouse.jpg 07. Ed Sheeran - Lego House [#1]

Here is Ed Sheeran again with his final entry in my Chart of 2011. After the release of 'The A Team', when 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You' was released as the second single I had pretty much concluded that we'd heard the best of Ed and that he was unlikely to release another single as good as 'The A Team'. Of course I was well and truly incorrect as 'Lego House' started to rocket up the charts and after watching an acoustic performance of this track, I quickly realised there was more to Ed Sheeran than just one big hit. Once the music video got released, the song got a further boost and helped 'Lego House' to spend 5 weeks at the top of my chart.

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa129/Hitstastic/2011/adele-someonelikeyou.jpg 06. Adele - Someone Like You [#1]

Adele is next up with the second of three singles in my Chart of 2011. I think it's been well documented how I ended up buying '21' off the back of 'Someone Like You' being performed at The Brit Awards 2011. I still think Adele was lucky that her live performance was released as a single as the combined sales of both live and studio versions helped keep Adele comfortably over the 100k barrier for three weeks which is usually unheard of these days unless it's a charity single, or X Factor related single. Otherwise we could well have had 'Moves Like Jagger' as the UK's biggest selling of the year. :o
