And once again the chart is a copy of djcharly's Euro Singles Hot 100:

The 2 differences are that "Black Heart" by Stooshe is missing from MTV European Top 20 and that "Balada" by Gusttavo Lima is actually at number 7 in djcharly's chart. I have no idea why MTV Europe don't allow "Balada" in the Top 10 anymore when the song debuted at number 10 in European Top 20!?...

And I do prefer last week's edition (except Precision Tunes) because at least it was original...

It's all subjective. Apart from Precision Tunes, I honestly don't see what was so wrong with that edition. The most successful songs in Europe were still in the chart, just in a different order.
I think it's the fact it was in the order it was. The worst thing about that chart was seeing fake 'Payphone' higher than Maroon 5. It's quite funny to an extent but seriously, it just doesn't reflect Europe at all. Name 3 other countries where fake 'Payphone' made the top 10.

MTV European Top 20 №29/17.07.2012

1 1 Maroon 5 Payphone

2 3 Flo-rida Whistle

3 2 Carly Rae Jepsen Call Me Maybe

4 4 Fun Ft. Monae, Janelle We Are Young

5 5 Coldplay Ft. Rihanna Princess Of China

6 8 Gotye Ft. Kimbra Somebody That I Used To Know

7 7 Train Drive By

8 6 Loreen Euphoria

9 14 Katy Perry Wide Awake

10 13 Usher Scream

11 11 Gusttavo Lima Balada

12 New Stooshe Black Heart

13 9 Cheryl Cole Call My Name

14 12 Pitbull Back In Time

17 15 Oceana Endless Summer

18 19 Will.i.am This Is Love

19 16 Tacabro Tacata

20 18 Simple Plan Ft. Sean Paul Summer Paradise

In all fairness, at least that top 20 is more representative of Europe. If it's a slightly jumbled copy of djcharly's Euro Singles Hot 100 then kudos to Charly. :D
Well, yes, as I have always said, it's a great recognition for djcharly... But to me it's very sad that the chart of the biggest music channel in Europe is just a copy of another chart. I prefer a little less "representative" but original chart... And, in the end, no chart is perfect. For example, I don't think Stooshe's "Black Heart" is among Europe's biggest 20 singles right now...
Black Heart is definitely nowhere near as big as Tacata or Endless Summer, though I dunno why those 2 are so low in the chart, especially the former...

From mtv.tv:

As of August 1, 2012 the Euro Top20 has been suspended from programming on MTV Europe.

As of August 1, 2012 the Base Chart has been suspended from programming on MTV Europe.

As of August 1, 2012 the Dancefloor Chart has been suspended from programming on MTV Europe.

As of August 1, 2012 the UK Hitlist has been suspended from programming on MTV Europe.

That means that now MTV can finally rest in piece by playing only reality shit..............

It was about time....

I'm not even disappointed, I can do without that mess those charts had become (ET20 & DFC that is)

Let's face it. MTV died when they started broadcasting The Osbournes back in 2003. The start of the worst kind of "reality TV" began then.

The fact they now broadcast a programme called Sixteen And Pregnant you can practically pin point exactly where everything has gone wrong.

R.I.P. MTV

In other news CLICKY :D

As I have said, I would have accepted ANYTHING - even 20 completely different songs in the chart every week - just to see European Top 20 continue... I really can't understand how someone would want to stop something with more than 20 years of history... Can you imagine someone cancelling the UK singles chart!?

On the other hand, it can be said that everything started changing when the regional MTV's started appearing and MTV Europe started being broadcast in less and less countries... Could it even be said that it's MTV EUROPE when only people in a few countries watch it?...

So, if MTV Europe isn't actually MTV Europe, then European Top 20 is probably not European Top 20 anymore... In the past the regional MTV's still broadcast the chart but one by one they stopped...

And then, of course, we come to the fact that MTV (and what it means to be MTV) has changed... As Nelly Furtado said in one of her European Top 20 number ones:

ALL GOOD THINGS COME TO AN END!

But I will never forget this chart!...

But I will never forget this chart!...

Something will be missing now,i remember how i started following this chart on the radio, believed or not...................

Now only MTV in Greece and Italy are still playing something with that brand. The greek one is a copy paste of some other chart, the italian version is better, but the fact that now MTV Europe suspended all the chart is so tragic.

I have an idea:let's take the MTV Italy's version now as a continuation from this week and keep the European Top 20 alive until all regional versions are done!

What about that?

MTV Italy's chart is quite different from this one, I don't think it'd be a great continuation. Maybe starting a new thread for it seperately.

Anyway, I'll remember MTV Europe from 1997-2002 fondly.
