January 21, 201213 yr Soluna could either do a Anna or a Tom Dice - but either way, best song in the superfinal won! I wasn't keen on the song from the studio version pre-contest, but after seeing the presentation - it was a well-deserved winner :D
January 21, 201213 yr Now that's a shock. Jesper is up for grabs to BJSC :D An Overflow confirmation has surely already reached Freeze's inbox?
January 21, 201213 yr Oh I see, well I rated it 3/10 on first listen and it (almost) topped my most hated of 2010 list *.*
January 21, 201213 yr qtEmRWFL_1s Poor Anna :( The whole weight of a Eurovision obsessed nation on her shoulders though. She was going into the contest with a huge domestic #1, surely it couldn't fail? Surely Europe would also 'get' why this song was deemed more worthy of a place in the contest than Keep On Walking and Kom? Sadly not, this was a Swedish obsession that I can't explain even to this day.
January 21, 201213 yr Author I'm not sure Soluna will inherit The Burgerdahl Fate. Unless they keep that sofa with ridiculously dressed-up girls on it.
January 21, 201213 yr I've got an AWFUL FEELING this is going to be the year of safe options over interesting ones. I'd have loved to see how Take Our Hearts would've fared at Eurovision, and I'm just as enthusiastic for Sailors in the Norwegian selection but can see something MoR getting the nod there too...
January 21, 201213 yr I'm not sure Soluna will inherit The Burgerdahl Fate. Unless they keep that sofa with ridiculously dressed-up girls on it. Anna had a very marmite voice which I'm sure must have put a lot of voters off, Sweden were already used to it because she'd been successful on Idol. Soluna has no such problem, very MOR, very jury friendly, I can't imagine it raking in the televotes to be honest so I think she'll be midtable, but it won't be a DNQ.
January 21, 201213 yr Surely Anna was supposed to be jury catnip as well? Sweden were through on the public vote but 11th on the jury vote...

I'd have loved to see how Take Our Hearts would've fared at Eurovision, and I'm just as enthusiastic for Sailors in the Norwegian selection but can see something MoR getting the nod there too... It's inevitable, having seen Running Scared and Madness Of Love come top two last year other countries will look and think 'oh WAIT, we don't need a standout event song to win this, juries are back and some pleasant MOR will do the job fine'. Sailors doesn't stand a chance sadly, I'm very pleased that they've given her the pimp slot which will hopefully help her into the final but I think she'll come in about 6th or 7th once there :( Still, none of Norway's front runners are particularly MOR so it might not be Sailors going through but I don't think they'll follow Denmark's lead either.

The 2010 jury and the 2011 jury seemed miles apart in their tastes. I just don't think Eurovision will be at all easy to call anymore, the public are more or less quite easy to predict most of the time but how uptempo/MOR perform each year will depend on what mood the jury will be in. I still cannot believe how dull the jury results were last year compared to the televoting equivalent :drama:
January 21, 201213 yr Author A big one! Was my favorite entry of 2010. :( http://i.imgur.com/dWnNN.png
January 21, 201213 yr To be fair, This Is My Life was my comfortable third favourite in that final and I still listen to it quite a lot now (or have it going round my head at random times) but I'm still very bitter about Keep On Walking and Kom getting so close and missing out, the former in particular! I thought his win was a done deal until Anna came out of nowhere with that song to whisk up more public support than I could of thought imaginable.

This Is My Life was in a very strong top four for me. Unfortunately it was my fourth out of those four and two of those four were in my top ten of the year. Soluna's in much the same position for a strong top six for me, and Jesper's easily in my top ten of the year so far...

Oh no, you didn't! :o I completely forgot Keep On Walking came 2nd! I guess the shocking fact that Anna won blocked it from my mind!
January 21, 201213 yr Inspired by råndomfurlöng and Anna Bergenwhal, I'm having an MF 2010 revival evening. What a STELLAR heat 1!
