And so we come to something approaching a presentation ceremony for this years inaugural awards (BRPMAs). As this is never the busiest of forums I won't drag it out over a long period and instead just crack on with one post containing all the winners.

However I would ask if you dsagree with any of the answers feel free to say why but don't complain. These are voted for by the members and if you didn't contribute you can't really moan that your favourite didn't win.

Good winners all in all! Not really fussed with Sonic Boom Six but otherwise that's a fantastic selection.

Yeah I was surprised by Sonic Boom Six winning anything too. I'll admit I voted for them a couple of times but didn't expect anything to come of it. If they'd have been around about 20 years ago they'd have had loads of NME and Melody maker support alongside the likes of Senser, Blaggers ITA and Back To The Planet. All quite different but their kind of politically driven message would have fitted right in then and they could've broken through mainstream. Not gonna happen these days of course.

Also surprised to see Blink-182 win nothing too

I don't know I'd say they are close to breaking into the mainstream, they've been having quite alot of air and press recently from the likes of Kerrang, I think one single last year was even getting played on The Box (which is primarily chart music). It's quite weird because I've been a fan since 2006 now all of a sudden they are getting fairly big. Might check out those other bands you have mentioned.

I hope so. Things do seem to be picking up for them albeit gradually

I'm still undecided on SB6 but if they dropped the female vocalist i'd probably enjoy their music alot more, have spoken to the singer/guitarist Barney on twitter a few times though he seems a top lad!

he so is, I speak to him quite a bit on twitter, met him after a show once aswell and he actually started talking to me rather than vice versa, he was proepr safe. Laila is cool too though.

Is it just me or did MTV Rocks/Kerrang not support Incubus' last album? I know Scuzz had back catalogue shows for the band but that seemed it. The crap they're playing you would think they didn't have an option to be choosy

What the hell is that Sonic Boom Six nursery school stuff? Last years Best British Rock act was the Joy Formidable
