So Sheelah finished 6th? Only three places lower than my projection so not too bad and it looks as if all of my entries finished top half :o

Lovely top five imo, quality, original and 'different' sounding tracks apart from Sober, which is decent enough but I'm still not seeing why some people are hailing Loreen as the greatest new artist around. Hopefully Euphoria will change my mind because so far all I'm hearing is well sung but dated and unspectacular pop/trance-lite tracks that were being pumped out ten a penny in 1999-2002.

Thanks for hosting Phil as always and congrats to Isconia, very much deserved and it's good that its status as a UK smash hit didn't put people off voting for it here. Who could have seen it being so big? I wonder if people still consider Will You Remember Me Tomorrow to be THE definitive BJSC winner? I wonder if after 50 contests we could have a Best of the best contest or something like that?

Is anyone doing that?!

Is anyone doing that?!

From the hyperbole and adoration that I've seen about her on a number of internet forums, I'd say so. She certainly has an air of mystery and intrigue about her and really impressive vocals, so I can see why people are interested in her but for me My Heart Is Refusing Me and Sober haven't quite hit the mark that I'd expected them to. I like them quite a bit but I'm finding it hard to get overly passionate about them, to me they honestly just sound like any old pair of trance songs that entered the lower end of the top 40 week in, week out in 1999 - but with better vocals

I'm still massively anticipating Euphoria though because I can see her potential, I'm just waiting for a 'WOW' moment as opposed to a 'that would sound nice on a 100 Hits dance compilation' sort of feeling. Blame my changing music tastes I guess, it's the sort of thing I would have been all over a decade or so ago, but they sort of just miss the mark for me these days and I'm not entirely sure why exactly...I think I listened to SO much trance-lite and airy pop-trance when I was growing up (it was pretty much ALL I listened to between 1999 and 2002) that as a genre I've just sort of grown out of it.

As you can see, there were some significant technical issues with the scoreboard earlier. This is the correct scoreboard with the tie broken and all deductions taken into account.

Overall, the standard of this contest was pleasing, although I much prefer the bottom half of the scoreboard.

:D Pleased with my result.

Also a big thank to Phil for hosting TBO :)

Well the Top 3 is pretty horrendous BUT Loreen and Azealia making top 5 improve things massively and Sheelah doing well

Two decent TBO finishes for Sheelah, what a legacy they left in their two song career :drama:

SHOCKED at how well Lykke Li managed to do, I thought it was a bit of a forgotten winner but 7th place is a good 20 or so higher than I expected! Pleasing to see Lise Karlsnes top ten too  Hoping she sails through MGP and into Eurovision 2012! Eric performed very respectively too for a 6th placer so despite no top fives for FSR Rontvia in this year's TBO, to have five of my ten 2011 entries considered amongst the best 13 of the year is unbelievable.

The bottom five though - what happened? Last month's top two there - did they slip out of everyone's good books that quickly? Why is it that the hits from the most recent contest always falter immediately in TBO!?! And they're joined by the usual clutch of generic pop winners that we seem to get every few months or so. BJSC is a very pop dominated contest but it's fair to say that TBO is a different beast, pure pop always seems to die on its arse here. With that in mind, I'm actually really impressed with Sheelah's result!

Thanks Freeze for 5 points :D

Cheers, Freeze! :D

You're welcome both of you! :D

Congratulations Isconia! I did not vote for it myself, but I can definitely see the appeal :cheer:

I was hoping for at least a top 20 with Rachel though, so I am a bit dissapointed at my result :nocheer: And Ashton should've been MUCH higher as well. BUT, Sheelah, Frida and Lise all in the top 10 makes me feel better, and we do seem to have quite the diverse top ten overall, which bodes well for the future of BJSC! ^_^

22/27

03 || Batidas || Gotye & Kimbra - Somebody That I Used To Know

Scoreboard next!

Ola?!

OLA?!

That fucking DOES IT!

And HURRA at being Top 5 ahead of all the Rontvian entries :D

Too bad Gotye is releasing the track in a month, otherwise I would've been 4th :(

Congrats Isconia, stunning winner  Fabulous top 10 actually, A lot of my faves high up :D
Isconia and Batidas in danger of withdrawing from BJSC soon :o

Isconia and Batidas in danger of withdrawing from BJSC soon :o

The curse of TBO! Which is why I'll never ever win one of these

None of my entries ever go onto get UK releases anymore, Caro Emerald was the last one :(

Maria Mena (not sure about this one), Lenka and Azealia were the only ones released after I entered them :(
Maria Mena (not sure about this one), Lenka and Azealia were the only ones released after I entered them :(

And Shakira of course (albeit the English version, although Loba was on the b-side I think and definitely the album). Well maybe not released AFTER you entered it, more at the same time as

I didn't count artists who already released something.
I lie of course, Sadness Is A Blessing got a UK release, Radio 1 playlisting and video a few months after I sent it. Suddenly I realise how it came 7th :o

Isconia are not going anywhere! We've got to find another Lana Del Rey now!
