I'm fairly sure iTunes discounts are some from both sides. The majority of older songs are probably whatever the people at iTunes fancy reducing, but most newer songs (Saturdays, Wanted, Pixie) I'm pretty sure will all be the label reducing them.

 

Im quite disappointed for Florence and the Machine with this album. Its just as good as the first but is underachieving quite badly. Its not flopping because its gone number one and sold 400,000 but still, It might just scrape 600,000 and that will be it :(

 

I think if it sells 600,000 copies, that would be quite impressive actually. 'Lungs' has some big hits on it, like YGTL and DDAO along with all the hype from Critics Choice awards and her being unescapable, whereas this album has only has SIO which underperformed badly, and didn't have much hype at all.

It looks like SHM are going to #1 then. :(

I feel so out of touch but I haven't even heard this Swedish House Mafia song, and I watch ALOT of music channels and listen to the radio alot. I suppose it'll benefit from lack of compitition, though.

That's only really big #1s, there have been plenty of #1s lower than Antidote by this stage and they tend to be lower-sales #1s (which Antidote will likely be if it gets there at all). I don't think #1 is out of the question yet.

 

iTunes is being reverty again for me so SHM's top version is showing up at 39 <_<

Usually they are, but occasionally some songs will slowly climb to #1 (Gettin Over You, In My Head etc.)

 

 

'Replay' by Iyaz had a slow start on iTunes but eventually climbed all the way to #1 (it got there on the Sunday night iirc) and ended up selling over 100k. It's too early to suggest 'Antidote' will be a low selling no. 1 assuming it gets there. There's a good chance that Jessie J 'Domino' might still be increasing in sales and might sell more next week than the track has sold this week.

I didn't even realise it was released today. :( I've only heard/heard about it when I searched for it and on Alan Carr's New Years thing. Looks like the album will probably NEVER see the light of day now. (Serves them right for waiting over a year since Hands was released.)

I'm a bit late to join in on the conversation but anyway, Gaga will become a huge seller again so easily. Seriously. Born This Way is simply the Body Language to The Fame (Monster)'s Fever. Uncommercial and poorly managed to boot. The Fame Monster sound strikes me as her best option going forward. She needs to go pop and anything like The Fame is too far in that direction. There's so little chance of her ever going away. Really. She loves music, she can't stop writing. And she's incredibly wealthy. She could go independent if Interscope somehow drop her. And in any case, even if the general public does tire of her she's got the Britney-esque crazed fanbase to send her albums to #1 and sell millions anyway. She's smart, she'll know what's needed to sell and if she wants to stay relevant she will. Every big female around right now will still be here in 2016. They are the album sellers right now and a male-pop revolution likely isn't coming any time soon. Women will continue to dominate. Basically anyone who can shift albums will likely be here. Anyone who can't won't.

 

Don't you be comparing Gaga to Kylie :P Besides, Body Language is a better album than BTW :kink:

JME's target audience is pretty far removed from BuzzJack though :lol: I'm sure Eric will be cheering it on whenever he comes online.
