Posted August 6, 200619 yr Katie Melua sings of break-up Digitalspy: Saturday, August 5 2006, 13:46 BST - by David Cribb Katie Melua's upcoming single will tell of the singer's split from Luke Pritchard. The singer dated the Kooks' frontman for four years, and the couple even discussed marriage. 'It's Only Pain' features the lyrics: "It's only pain, it only hurt, I'm down on the floor where I've been before," and "It's not easy to watch it die." It is not the first song to reflect the break-up, with the Kooks' song 'You Don't Love Me' rumoured to serve the same purpose. 'It's Only Pain' is out next month
August 6, 200619 yr Author Why would she need to re-ignite her career? She's not done badly or anything. well last single wasnt a top 20er, and once youre a flop your a flop, careers now seem to be on a last record bases (youre only as good as your last hit mentality)
August 6, 200619 yr well last single wasnt a top 20er, and once youre a flop your a flop, careers now seem to be on a last record bases (youre only as good as your last hit mentality) Album sales are what matter the most, and she did very well. She was never a singles act anyway.
August 6, 200619 yr The first thing I knew about the Kooks was that the lead singer was the ex-boyfriend of Katie Melua, so it was the other way around. It's a bit like saying Paul McCartney is cashing in on the fame & success of Heather Mills.
August 6, 200619 yr no i dont think so. shes not exactly going to be putting on the cd case ''this song is about frontman in the kooks'' is she?
August 6, 200619 yr You could also say The Kooks are riding on the success of their genre at the moment, as they have absolutely nothing new or original about them.
August 6, 200619 yr erm she has had two number one albums? and her highest charting single was only ever around tenish i think so she is an album artist and i doubt she needs to reignite.
