As always, you vote using the traditional Eurovision system, i.e. 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 points, and send the scores to me by PM! 6 songs will qualify for the Semifinals.

You have until evening of SUNDAY, February 5th to vote. And yeah, vote for you favourite song, and not the country you live in, etc.

The year of men in white suits. Not one of the BETTER years but still a fair few highlights.
Lets all put our favourite act of Eurovision 2004 in our signature, Tirren's got the ball rolling there I see :o

2003 got ruled by VAGINA, and it turned out good. 2004, being the PENIS year, is lacking in quality. :(

HIGHLIGHTS

- Croatia doing a Sweden and entering a track that ripped off the chord progression of The Winner Takes It All

- Celebrate getting a V DESERVED NUL POINTS

- Latvia redoing Open Your Heart from the year before, but WORSE, and duly failing to qualify

- Belarus taking to the stage and baffling Europe with a serious of seemingly random noises in the place of vocals

- LENA PH + THE ANAL SEX SONG *.*

- One of the more tremendous top twos of recent years, beaten only by 2009

- A HOT DEBUT from Albania (which they've proceeded to completely fail to live up to in the meantime)

- The ever-fabulous Ruslana

Anyway, I did have a soft spot for a lot of 2004 entries but none of them finished in my end of year top ten, which speaks for itself I guess :o I did win money for the first time EVER though by placing a £5 bet on Ruslana when she was at 9/1 about a month before the contest...

TERRIFYING.

Finished only 19th :(

Mine;

- Andorra sending a brilliantly chirpy debut entry, which was completely ignored...

- Malta's answer to Renee and Renato who had two stints atop my chart with the cheesetastic On Again...Off Again, making it three years in a row that the Maltese entry topped my chart. Chiara was a great final hurrah the following year and it's all been downhill from there :(

- The bald woman on stilts in the French performance

- Netherlands' clicking strummer falling flat on its face in the final after doing well in the semis

- Norway last, with a song that definitely didn't deserve to be. In the hands of a lady, it may have been a moment...

- The bizarre Belarussian entry - took me YEARS to understand what she was saying

- The cringe twins from Slovenia, who got engaged on the day of their DNQ iirc, after a very car crash performance of a song that I liked far too much

- Sweden's best entry in years - and a bonafide modern classic there

- The ever-fabulous Ruslana

and the UK got one of our better finishes of the noughties with the blandest song of all time :/

I feel the Russian perf also warrants a mention. It looks like a Brian Friedman coke hangover!

Also, can you believe that the lead singer of Poland's entry was 25 at the time? She looks like the lovechild of Kat Slater, Davina McCall and the Cheeky Girls aged 54 (though granted the dress was NOT HELPING her cause!)
The Cypriot entry should have been our own (she was from Kent!), but alas it might have looked like we were just sending Lindsay D again - they looked more than a little similar if my memory serves me correctly :o
Anyway, I've submitted my votes and I suspect that I've prevented my one pointer from being a guaranteed nul pointer, can anybody guess what it might be? :o I always had an irrational soft spot for it. Come to think of it, I can't see my 3 pointer getting much support from elsewhere either!

Was probably my least favourite Russian entry ever, until the 2010 ear-rape of course.

And Julia is rather GOOD. :drama:

Germany and Austria?

Voted. I'd say my 7 pointer is probably quite unexpected, and maybe my 1 and 2 pointers. The top three are amongst the best the contest has ever offered.
2004 was a bit of an odd year I thought, very polarizing - the good songs were very good and the bad songs were very bad and there was hardly anything in between. At least my favourite won though!

Appaling year. I don't even need to relisten to it as I only just have 10 entries I like.

12. Ukraine // Ruslana - Wild Dances

10. Turkey // Athena - For Real

08. Germany // Max - Can't Wait Until Tonight

07. Serbia and Montenegro // Željko Joksimović & Ad Hoc Orchestra - Lane moje

01. Albania // Anjeza Shahini - The Image of You

For the second year running, the right song was crowned as the winner. Although Lane Moje was very worthy!

Also, look at Portugal trying to be hip and current with a pseudo-disco-pop track. That went well.

LOL!
