Posted August 6, 200618 yr Between 1972 and 1975 Glam Rock was at its height. Some of it was good some utter c**p, but at least it brightened up the TV and took your mind of the everyday drudgery for the people at a time when there were power cuts and strikes everywhere. The main players were: Sweet Wizard T Rex Slade Elton John David Bowie Gary Giltter( :puke2: ) would have preferred to erase him from history if possible Mud Roxy Music New York Dolls When it was all over, Bowie,Elton and Roxy changed their image to survive, the rest didn't and dissappeared.
August 6, 200618 yr didnt like glam.... thought it was far too frivolous. i prefered the earnest sounds from the 60's... motown, r&b, mod, .... glitter and make-up made a mockery of the music... they dressed like clowns. however all the main players mentioned above did at least 1 track that i liked, and looking back i think most of the music was good pop.
August 6, 200618 yr no Alvin Stardust ;) My fav glam rock artist is Alice Cooper the guy is a legend, the Million Doller Babies album is a classic  Slade, Sweet, Bowie, T Rex were brilliant as well, alot of dross as well but u get that with every genre/movement i guess.
August 7, 200618 yr I love Glam, my heart lies with Sweet and Slade the most tho, it's great pop... I have my dad to thank to getting me into Glam, he's a very open minded guy and likes all genres. I never took to Elton, Gary Glitter or even Roxy really.
August 8, 200618 yr Love - Bowie (the MASTER...) New York Dolls (dirty, sleazy, nasty and Punk Rock pioneers...) Alice Cooper (although, I've never really seen him as 'Glam', he's more Hard Rock....) Sorta like a bit - T-Rex Sweet Slade Roxy Music KISS (again though, more Hard Rock) Cant Stand - Mud Gary Glitter :puke2: Elton John Wizard My attitude to Glam Rock is pretty similar to Mushy's, it was a pretty ludicrous movement, and it was only really Bowie and the Dolls who came over with any real credibility...
August 8, 200618 yr Cooper don't belong in the list. That's what I thought as well to be honest.... But in a way, neither do New York Dolls, they were more Sleaze/Punk rock than the more radio-friendly and fluffy Glam Rockers....
