In the early 70's a new craze swept the music industry "the teeny bopper".

With singers like Donny Osmond,Michael Jackson,David Cassidy,David Essex and groups like the Osmonds,Jackson 5,Bay City Rollers and the Partidge Family.

Did they serve any useful purpose to the music industry or were they all just :puke2:

Mind you I don't think there was too many male teenyboppers

they made money... lol. ok their fan base was young girls, and young girls have been a lucrative market ever since.

tbh, although i dont like them, the osmonds and the jackson5 were competant performers, quite able of performing their material live.

Well i dont like em, but they are all very talented musicians, i quite liked some of David Essex & Jackson 5 material. Gotta say the Osmonds sucked but Crazy Horses, what a tune

Most of them had great tracks. The Osmonds "Crazy Horses" and "Down By Lazy River", David Essex "Rock On" and "Walk On(City Lights)"Bay City Rollers"Rock'n'Roll Love Letter" and "Summer Love Sensation" and all the early Jackson Five- Classics.

Most of the Partridge Family tracks sound like bubblegum versions of 70s Elvis and that can't be bad. David C recorded the original "I write the Songs" and had an album produced by Beach Boy Bruce Johnson. Donny O's solo career was pretty naff but some people like his Alone Together album. So who knows????

Midgure, started out in teenybop band Slik in the 70's. He went to Ultravox etc. so sometimes members of these bands have some talent!
Well, Siouxsie Sioux was 16 when she formed Siouxsie and the Banshees (and when she made that now notorious appearance on the Bill Grundy show), so I suppose at a push she could be included in this debate just for argument's sake; but then even at this age she was showing what an enormous creative talent and spokesperson/Icon for a generation of women she would become.....
