oops, gutted that didn't make #1, it was just a great track for some reason I thought it did. Epic fail me, should have done my research first. -_-

It certainly stayed around inside the top 10 for a good number of weeks which was impressive for a track in late 1998.

Where is Metallica's 'Beyond Magnetic' EP? The physical version is 23rd on Amazon but isn't anywhere to be found here - is it not eligible?

"WHEN YOU'RE GONE" NEVER MADE NUMBER ONE BUT LOOK AT THE GREAT CHART RUN

Aww no. I like Sir Mick Jagger's part.

You know that's the only bit I like too :o

Nelly Furtado with 'Maneater' I think. 'When You're Gone' wasn't a UK #1 anyways. :P

Well that would make it 'Give it to Me' by Timbaland, seeing as that features her :P

Indeed but unlike 'Maneater' I forgot all about 'Give It To Me' back in 2007. :D

finally some good album sales! The singles are improving i guess
Who was the last Canadian act to go to #1 was it Bryan Adams with Mel C? I can't think of anyone else at the moment.

Drake, last year with "What's My Name?" :D

Midweek Charts update: Del Rey nearing 100,000 sales

10:34 | Friday February 3, 2012

By Paul Williams

Lana Del Reys Born To Die is on the verge of becoming the first album this year to sell more than 100,000 copies in a week in the UK as Leonard Cohen heads towards his highest-charting release in more than four decades.

Del Reys Polydor-issued album had sold around 92,000 copies up until the end of business on Thursday, according to the Official Charts Company, putting it more than 60,000 sales ahead of the rest of the market.

With two more days of trading still to go, Born To Dies figures for this week are already very impressive given in the first four weeks of 2012 sales of the number one album have ranged from 20,678 to 38,380 copies across an entire week.

The nearest album to Del Reys is the Columbia-issued Old Ideas by Leonard Cohen who is far enough ahead of Asylum/Atlantics Ed Sheeran album + in third place on midweek sales that he seems assured of debuting at two this coming Sunday. If he does it will be his highest-charting album since Songs From A Room peaked at two back in 1969.

Fewer than 1,000 sales separate the two main challengers to top the singles chart this weekend. Just ahead is the newly-issued 3 Beat/AATW single Alone Again by Alyssa Reid featuring Jump Smokers, but Positiva/Virgins David Guetta featuring Sia single Titanium is fast gaining ground. Its sales are 42% up on the week and it must be fancied to overcome Alone Again by the end of the chart week.

Seems like Alyssa is still just ahead :o

Update is in, no changes at the top, give us a few.

It better be

REALLY pleased for The 2 Bears :D Fantastic album, and alternative dance albums never do that well these days. Hoping it can cling on to the top 40 for the end of the week.

I hope David Guetta can snatch the no1 single by sunday. I am so pleased Lana Del Rey is doing so well.

I just like the thought of Jagger being in the top 10 in 2012!!

Also Gotye at 3 already, thought it would have only been around 5 or so - he sold like 30k last week - must be on around 55-60k this week and he should peak on both airplay and video play only next week, good stuff!!

Anyone know if its being played on all the mtv channels yet (apart from abv the top 40 chart shows)?
