DJ Premier Produces on Christina Aguilera's New Album

DJ Premier has cleverly crafted gritty beats for the likes of the Notorious B.I.G., KRS-One, Jay-Z, Nas and Jadakiss, but now he’s getting really "Dirrty".

According to Billboard.com, the Gang Starr general produced five songs for Christina Aguilera’s Back To Basics album, scheduled to hit stores in June on RCA.

Premier, who is idolized for his authentic, raw production style, was surprised the former "Genie in a Bottle" reached out to him.

"It was kind of a shock because I was like, 'How the hell does she know about me?'" Premier told Billboard about his first conversation with RCA about Aguilera’s album. "I'm one of those guys that really doesn't expect pop artists to really be up on me. My first question was, 'What does she know about me?'"

As it turned out, Aguilera was quite a fan of his production style on classic Gang Starr material like "Jazz Thing".

On Aguilera’s new “Thank You (Dedication to Fans)†song, Premier pairs voice mail messages from her fans with chopped up segments from “Genie in a Bottle.†Premier also gives Aguilera a taste of his distinctive sound on her "Ain't No Other Man," which features triumphant horns.

The exact release date of Back To Basics has yet to be announced - but HMV currently have it penciled in for the first week of July. Are any of you excited by the return of Xtina? Already this year she has collaborated on tracks on albums with Classical Tenor singer Andrea Bocelli & Jazz keyboard legend Herbie Hancock - With Britney pregnant again, do any of you think that this album could be the one to put Xtina ahead of her one-time rival once and for all or is she overrated?

Not overrated in the slightest I don't think, don't get me wrong I prefer Britney (Don't ask me why as I don't know) but I do love Christina too.

I am still unsure about her change in direction, but interested to hear it and will be buying it nonetheless, I think it will do quite well on a global scale, but I don't think it's going to be the global smash hit like Stripped was :(

Here we go again, britney vs. xtina
She isn't overrated at all imo, if anything her true talent is not paid enough attention to due to the way she always looks in videos. I prefer Britney too, which is strange really because its clear Christina has a lot more talent.
I think it will do quite well and end up one of the year's top selling albums. She doesn't seem have to put a foot wrong yet and i imagine there is a lot on anticipation for this album.

Penciled in Dates according to RCA:

Single: Ain't No Other Man (June 5th)

Album: Back To Basics (July 3rd)

Well if we are on the topic of miss christina i have to say I like her fine, everybody thinks im a big hater but im not, Stripped is one of my favorite albums...It just annoys me how people want to say something bad about britney when britney was NEVER mentioned in the topic (im not talking about this topic) im saying like when Oh x-tinas album is out this year and then the reporter will add its supposedly to be much better than britney, and i think to myself was that neccesary at all?

I hope her first single is good, id like to hear some tracks like Fighter and beautiful rather tilt ya head back :(

Don't forget if you like Christina be sure to vote for the forum request we are having at the moment :cheer:
