February 14, 201213 yr Puts a huge smile on my face reading al these comments about the video & Echoes on Popjustice. :D http://www.popjustice.com/forum/index.php?topic=21717.1635 Yes, isn't it wonderful to see unfamiliar names coming out to praise Will?! :yahoo:
February 14, 201213 yr Author 4Music tweet There's an identity crisis going on in @will_young31's new video for #LosingMyself. Let us know what you think... http://t.co/CXGIT3QA Will is joined by hunky copy cats as he loses himself in his latest video Will Young has an identity crisis as he is joined by a group of dedicated and hunky copy cats that he just can't seem to shake off in his latest video. At the beginning of the video Will seems to take the fact that he's followed around by these guys all in his stride, however their persistent presence starts to get on his nerves nearer the end - no wonder he's Losing Himself. Does he regain his own identity? You'll just have to watch and see... Losing Myself is the third single to be taken from his fifth studio album, Echoes, which topped the album charts in 2011. It follows the cute video for Come On and the top 5 hit Jealousy. Will you be Losing Yourself in Will's new video? Let us know by commenting below.
February 14, 201213 yr Thanks Sunday. :D i love reading over there too Gill. Another brilliant piece here! One to Watch: Will Young – Losing Myself 10 years ago, a young man called Will Young went on to win the first edition of Idols, making it a inspiring talent show which would continue to dominate the UK and the rest of the world in different formats. It’s unbelievable to see how Will Young got rid off the Idols label and went from a talent show winner to a credible artist without falling into the forgotten debts and have an impressive career to look back on. And what a career it is. His latest album ‘Echoes’ was released on Augst 19 and went to number 1 August 29 to hang on to it for quite some time. It is a brilliant masterpiece, consisting of ambient, low, mature electropop produced by Richard X, a well known producer in the danceworld. After the success of ‘Jealousy’ and the slightly underrated ‘Come On’ Will Young now releases ‘Losing Myself’ as the 3rd cut. Again, Will Young proves to be a class act. His chilled vocals are part of the reason why this sounds so beautiful and classy. The song, carried out in a loungy mood with spacious synthesizer sounds, is drenched within emotions, suiting the overall production incredibly well. Not to mention the video! Will has definately raised his video profile. The acting career he’s been having over the years has done him much favour, putting lots of depth in performing the song. The dancing is stylish, we just love the full concept. The official single release of ‘Losing Myself’ is scheduled for March 19. The track is however already available through the Album ‘Echoes’, which can be bought via iTunes. http://glopop.wordpress.com/2012/02/14/one...-losing-myself/
February 14, 201213 yr My Fizzy Pop. :D So many new videos floating around at the moment, I thought I better catch up and get analysing them frame by frame. First up is lovely William of the Young (celebrating ten years as Britain's premiere pop idol and showing no signs of fatigue or dip in quality) with more to follow as the week "progresses". Hurrah and huzzah, I cry... •Just to clarify, I think Losing Myself is one of my favourite tracks from his outstanding new album. Therefore it is a very good choice of single release. bravo young William, bravo... •The video starts with William in bed. In satin grey sheets. He seems a bit of a bed hog though because he is lying right in the middle of the bed. While this does not bode well for a good night's sleep if you are his partner, it does indicate there would be quite good cuddling opportunities. •Before he gets up, he seems to be having that early morning reflective state of mind. It's good for that isn't it? Early morning reflection in bed, before you brace yourself to shrug off your cosy duvet cover... •Oh my. William is up and there are two other fellas in the room with him, dressed identically to him who all seem to be in an equally reflective mood. They are all gazing "soulfully" out of the window". It's quite nicely shot actually... •As they all move in unison and have the same actions (such as brushing their teeth, though I would recommend a more angled motion around the upper gums to exhibit full plaque control), perhaps the trio of Wills isn't a dirty romp morning after (oh please, you were all thinking it) but a manifestation of the different facets of his personality. Yes, that English Literature A-Level is paying dividends now isn't it?! •There are now 4 Williams grooming themselves in the bathroom and doing jerky movements in time to the music. They are sharing two sinks so are being quite considerate of each other's grooming needs. •More jerky dancing. To be fair it's not something you would want to try in a club because people might think you are a loon on loon tablets, but it works well within the confines of the tune and video. •William and The Handsomes as I have now dubbed them are off to get dressed, all in the same suits that probably represent how easy it is to blend in with the rat race. Or something. Seeing as I like a fella in a suit, I'm not going to complain that there are now 4 all dressing up. Hurrah The Handsomes. •William and The Handsomes are now 5, all looking mighty fine in suit and braces, and busy polishing their shoes. I want those bad boys to shine like the top of the Chrysler building (Annie reference for all you West End Wendies out there!) •Ooo they really do look good in braces/shirt/tie combo. J'approve. dribble. •Anyway, moving on! Their coffee pouring technique with sideways swoosh move is amazing (1m53) - I am so going into the staff kitchen now to make mine in exactly the same way, I don't care who is around! •Just after this, The Handsomes fade away in a line behind William, popping out like the Von Trapp children during So Long, Farewell to stare at him. You can't blame them. He is chedder gorge. He is King Gorge the 5th... •The Handsomes continue to mimic William's movements but almost like a wave format, just a few seconds each after him. It creates a really intriguing effect, particularly as he sits down and then gets back up. Well you have to see it obviously, it sounds really boring just written down like that :D •During the Middle 8 (ask XO), William is in a somewhat darkened room (though not Dark room, more of an art room) where he keeps coming across The Handsomes (steady! Not literally! RUDE :P) as almost carbon copies of him. It's almost like he's losing himself... •He is getting Handsome blocked at every turn. it's quite intimidating. And a little bit alluring... •Lots of nice (if somewhat quick) close up of William and The Handsomes. While William sings, The Handsomes lurk in the background as if poised to pounce and smother any individual aspect of William's personality. It's way psychological... •Out of the Nightmare Room, The Handsomes absorb into William, he brushes aside his kiss curl and mosies off on his way. Amaze. •(PS, as amazing as this all is, it would also have been brilliant if this had been a cover of this Losing Myself...) http://myfizzypop.blogspot.com/2012/02/vid...will-young.html •Anyway, moving on! Their coffee pouring technique with sideways swoosh move is amazing (1m53) - I am so going into the staff kitchen now to make mine in exactly the same way, I don't care who is around! Edited February 14, 201213 yr by Sweetwilliamfan
February 14, 201213 yr Ah! well spotted by Fizzy Pop! So this was the art gallery shoot then. During the Middle 8 (ask XO), William is in a somewhat darkened room (though not Dark room, more of an art room) where he keeps coming across The Handsomes (steady! Not literally! February 14, 201213 yr It's Will's best video to date for me. PopLedge VIDEO REVIEW: WILL YOUNG GETS MULTIPLIED IN ‘LOSING MYSELF’ VIDEO REVIEW: WILL YOUNG -LOSING MYSELF Ah Will…let me count the ways in which I love thee…if only he could be my Valentine! This is his new video for ‘Losing Myself’ Will’s videos for ‘Echoes’ have been really creative so far so I’m hoping for more of the same. Let’s see how this one pans out… ■Will is in bed in a grey vest…this is good ■Will gets up but what’s this there is another man on the end of his bed! ■Now there’s another man in the room ■Ah I see they are all a version of himself ■The trio moves around the flat doing things in unison ■There’s a cool head jerk moment at the mirror ■There’s four of them now…and then five, lol very clever ■I love the dancing bits and then the five ‘merging’ back into Will again ■It’s now dark in the flat and Will is looking at each of him-selves and trying to find himself amongst them Really interesting yet simple video and I feel it summarises the meaning of the song very well…4.5/5 – would love to see the out-takes! If you haven’t yet checked out Echoes then please do, one of my favourite albums from last year without a doubt..http://popledge.co.uk/2011/09/12/will-young-echoes-album-review/ As it’s Valentine’s Day please also take time to watch Will on the Graham Norton show performing ‘Silent Valentine’ – it’s a great performance: http://popledge.co.uk/2012/02/14/video-rev...-losing-myself/
