February 19, 201213 yr It was HARDLY the best song in the stellar 2009 final. I'd wonder why Hope & Glory and Baby Goodbye were ignored before worrying about SDF. It hardly smacks of being an obvious BJSC hit  And that was an embarrassment for all involved, and the main reason I stepped down from my mod position. I couldn't handle all of the petty arguments that arose from that issue. Those against it thought that BJSC would become overrun with Eurovision rejects and that we all had no ability to be discerning in our tastes if it's Eurovision related, it was all quite insulting really. In the very few times that NF songs have appeared in BJSC, it was ironically those that were so vehemently against them that ended up giving large pointage to Butterflies/Disconnect Me/Stay The Night etc...Certainly I've steered clear of a few that have been entered. Oh, it's not that it strikes me as the best from the year or indeed as an obvious BJSC hit - it just caters so well to a certain niche that I'm surprised nobody's sent it from that 'bloc', as it were! Stay the Night coming second really was the ultimate triumph, wasn't it? :D That REALLY shoved it in the faces of all the idiotic 'GUARANTEED NUL POINTS IF ANYONE SENDS EUROCHEESE' statements - especially when they were sending 'Eurocheese' anyway, just Eurocheese that happened to not be entered into national finals!

I still don't think I'd ever send a Eurovision 'reject' personally, short of it being from before 2009 or from a country that nobody pays any attention to (i.e. Karizma's When Life Is Grey from the Moldovan NF last year crossed my mind briefly). Too many people here follow the Scandi NF's to make them worth sending, they just wouldn't be a discovery for enough people for me to feel comfortable with. I don't have a problem with them being entered though. Those comments were indeed idiotic. Why conclusively rule out giving points to something that you haven't heard before just because of its source? Ridiculous
February 20, 201213 yr What did you win with? Call back when you have won BJSC! :P Nothing, just banter innit! Or something like that. Don't feed the troll people :( Edited February 20, 201213 yr by Ljósið
February 20, 201213 yr I love songs from NF's, I just worry if I'm being a bit too cheap by sending songs from then, and then losing votes lots of votes as a result, that I could quite possibly gain by finding an original song. :P
February 20, 201213 yr When I was defending songs from NF's being allowed to participate in BJSC, it was less that I wanted to use them as entries (because I don't and never have before) and more because the counter-arguments were incredibly patronising and belittling, smacking of music snobbery and generalisation, two massive pet hates of mine. The implication that we'd all just 12 any old limp 7th placed flop from a Melodifestivalen heat was an insult. As if the Eurovision tag all blinded us into thinking that everything with a loose link to the contest was instantly amazing. It's quite the opposite in fact, I always subconsciously try to support discoveries in BJSC more than songs I already know and have loved and got over. At the end of the day they're on an even keel to anything else, especially now with the vetting process in place. I'm sure the mods would have no problem whatsoever with the Abalone Dots song being sent but I'm CERTAIN that Loreen's Euphoria would be vetoed if it failed to win MF. Would be as much a pointless and incredibly uninspired entry as sending a hot leak from a superstar.

February 20, 201213 yr Well, perhaps Pavel during the season  He's the exception to every Buzzjack rule, as you well know
February 20, 201213 yr Well, perhaps Pavel during the season  I wouldn't call 'Things Change' along with half of DMGP+MGP 2012 and almost all of the Latvian, Georgian, German and Ukranian NF songs 'amazing'. :o

February 20, 201213 yr Sent my confirmation in but I've got a nagging feeling somebody else has nabbed it. It's very 80s electro kinda pop.
February 20, 201213 yr :P It's ok as I believe you considered the track last month so in all fairness you discovered the track before me. I still adore the track regardless and hope it does well at BJSC. Are we talking about the same song because AFAIK I've discussed it only with Rich. I know I did sent you two songs last month but one of them has been already entered last month and the other is really cheap now.

I agree with this, in the same way that - just because a song is pop doesn't mean I'm going to vote for it, or because the song is alternative Grebo will vote for it - Melodifestivalen rejects wouldn't necessarily get points, let alone the 12 points due to association. Infact, other than 'Shout It Out' so far, and possibly 'Euphoria', I don't know if I'd have voted for any other songs as a 12 pointer. I certainly wouldn't vote for Sanningen if it was entered, because it's a boring song, regardless of it's association. Personally, I just don't know if I'd send one, because even though, yes I can be quite cheap, I think sending Melodifestivalen now (at the stage we're at, quite a lot of the people in the contest watch the show) is perhaps pushing it a bit.
February 20, 201213 yr Are we talking about the same song because AFAIK I've discussed it only with Rich. I know I did sent you two songs last month but one of them has been already entered last month and the other is really cheap now. I sent a PM asking for Rich's opinion and was told you considered the track last month but it definitely wasn't either of the two tracks you PM'd me (sadly I've deleted that PM now). If you discovered the track before I did then you deserve to enter it. :D Problem is I really haven't a clue what else to send. I'm toying with another two possibilities but wouldn't be surprised if they've been entered. Now I know how Tyron felt when he finally got his 8th choice!!! :(

Yes. Yes it was :D
February 20, 201213 yr Woop! On the list in the opening post so I'm assuming nobody's tried to confirm the same song as me! Optimistic again, but we'll see how long that lasts
February 20, 201213 yr This is going to sound really weird but I really don't want to win this contest. I'm probably going to have to miss the next contest as I'm away for the whole of Easter and I'd hate to have to pass up the oppotunity to host this contest!
February 20, 201213 yr Batidas have confirmed an entry. :D Nothing extraordinary but I like it nonetheless.
