Posted February 22, 201213 yr Reading a few newspapers and sources on the internet it is clear that Take That have been asked to perform at the Olympics and obviously with Gary organising the Jubilee concert we would be mad to think that someone hasn't brought up the prospect of Take That appearing. Big questions are: 1) Historically TT go on tour and then do not emerge until October/November of the next year. So in this case November 2012. They always come back with new material and a new album and in the gap between the tour and the next album they do not perform. Will this stop them from performing at either event? Will they want to wait until an XF appearance or maybe pull the releases forward? Or just perform old material? 2) Will it be a TT4 or a TT5? Apart from Everything Changes, Could it be magic and The Flood, Robbie doesnt sing lead on many songs. I could only imagine The Flood being performed so who knows whether he'll turn up. Plus he has a problem with stage fright. All they would need is for Rob to fluff his lines or say something stupid and it could mar the performance. 3) Surely performing in front of an audience of probably a couple of hundred million worldwide would be too much for them to turn down? Could help them in America? However I hear that TT songs cant be downloaded in AMerica now which is very strange. 4) Would they get a 10 minutes et for example or just one/two songs? 5) Gary said there are big announcements to be made in 2012 according to his twitter. Could it already be signed sealed and delivered? Many more questions to ask im sure but these will do to get us started...
February 22, 201213 yr It would be great if they do it but i wont get my hopes up, its a great way to reach a worldwide audience and hopefully they will perform. I kind of expected an appearance to present an award or something at last nights brits but to my knowledge none of them were there.
February 22, 201213 yr I think if Robbie is approached to do a slot it should be as a solo artist. For me - one of the best parts of The Progress concert I saw at Manchester was Robbie's solo set (and it pains me to say it - given that I've always been a huge 'naysayer' of Robbie - but alone he just seemed 'right') As much as I loved the five of them doing 'Pray' and 'BFG' - it was more of a nostalgic nod to the original fans - but to outsiders - it would just seem a bit 'twee' and just plain boyband! Great for British TV - but NOT for a worldwide audience. AND - thankfully - I'm pretty sure Gary sees that this is the case. Kath Edited February 22, 201213 yr by Kath

Kath I agreee that the Rob set was very good but i preferred the TT4 set more so. I dont think Rob would do anything that big as a solo artist again. Ok he might do a couple of arena tours next year or so but the Robbie that would casually perform to 300k a night is long gone! This Robbie wouldnt be able to stand the pressure of performing to an audience of tens of millions + Though I would like the version of No Regrets/ Relight to be performed again at some point as it was a fantastic arrangement
February 23, 201213 yr Robbie's solo section was good but as I am not a fan of his solo music I did not have that much interest in it, that said ,he is without doubt a showman and can perform with style even though his vocal abilities are average at best. I enjoyed Take That as 4 the most as I enjoy their music the most and have great love for many of the tracks performed. Robbie has most definitly peaked solo wise in his career with some of that as choice, he has made his name and will be remembered in the history books so for Robbie it is just a case of him doing what he loves more than reaching massive global audiences that he once focused so hard on and achieved very well.
February 23, 201213 yr Like that im not a big fan of robbies solo stuff either although i do like the odd song, i supose when i wasnt a fan i didnt have as much interest in his performance so i didnt enjoy it that much as i was more into the take that stuff mainly take that as 4 aswell. Career wise robbie has done alot and has had a big career and has had huge success, his isnt as popular as he used to be but i think since he parted ways with guy chambers the quality of his work decreased rapidly and so did his sales. I agree that robbie doesnt push for success as much as he used to though, longer gaps in albums, less singles etc so that slows things down but at this stage he has nothing to prove really and likewise for take that they have nothing left to prove, they have all done enough at this stage to be rembered for a long time and as they say the facts speak for themselves.
February 24, 201213 yr Author Oh definately, ever since he parted with Chambers his music has gone on a strange transformation. Intensive Care was a complete departure from the old Rob stuff and then obviouslyt Rudebox bombed and RKTVS (very underated in my opinion actually) which was billed as his comeback did ok but only sold 1.5 million worldwide with 1 million in the uk. Watching the news this evening and they were talking about the performers or potential performes during the closing ceremony of the olympics and the new readers mentioned Adele, Pet Shop Boys and (in there own words) "possibly even Take That". Omens must look goof for it then! especially as their tour designer kim gavin is running the show along with gary;s mate david arnold. Fingers crossed!
February 24, 201213 yr Without doubt Robbies sales have declinded as his music lost its bar with the exception of the occasional song, any material from his last 3 studio albums wont be remebered in years to come whereas his older material will be.
February 24, 201213 yr Author Gary Barlow and Andrew Lloyd Webber to pen Jubilee song Gary Barlow and Andrew Lloyd Webber are searching for artists from around the world to perform on a song for the Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Take That's Gary Barlow is teaming up with musical maestro Andrew Lloyd Webber to create a song for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations. And the pair are aiming to Rule the World by scouring locations around the globe to find other artists to perform with them. The song will be performed at the star-studded Diamond Jubilee Concert in front of Buckingham Palace on June 4. And in preparation, Barlow will embark on an epic journey around the Commonwealth to discover what the Queen means to ordinary people. The star's trip will feature in an hour-long documentary to be screened by BBC One. Barlow and Evita composer Lloyd Webber will also aim to incorporate different musical traditions into the song which will feature artists and contributors from the UK and Commonwealth. They could include international names and unknowns from remote villages. Barlow's journey will see him travel to the Caribbean, Africa, the Pacific Islands and Australasia. He said: "This is probably the biggest challenge I've ever taken on musically. I'm so excited and thrilled to be a part of it." And Lloyd Webber - who is launching an ITV talent hunt for a star for his production Jesus Chris Superstar - said: "It is a huge honour to be involved in this historic occasion and I am looking forward very much to working with Gary." The song-writing project was announced on Radio 2's Chris Evans show this morning. Barlow is helping to organise the June concert - which has now attracted more than one million ticket applications - featuring performances by Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Elton John. I have also read on the Digital Spy article here http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a36...nd-jubilee.html that Gary and ALW will perform the song with these other artists! So Gary will definately be involved musically in the Jubilee but I hope he performs a couple of songs with Take That and that iTunes makes the BW,Circus and Progress albums and material available for Americans!
February 26, 201213 yr Gary is a very busy man these days, he has lots coming up,. 2012 definitly looks to be a very Gary Barlow year!!
February 26, 201213 yr Author And will hopefully end with a number 1 single and a number 1 2million+ selling UK album for Take That!! *fingers crossed*
February 26, 201213 yr Yes i would love that too especially another 2million + selling take that album.
February 26, 201213 yr Author I guess worldwide though the sales wont be as high as I doubt they will do another European tour so soon after their last one and also Rob will be missing and he is a masssive draw for some countries i.e. germany, oz etc
February 26, 201213 yr Ya true but for me i just concentrate on the UK sales in general so id be happy with a 2 million selling UK album , on saying that im not expecting that on the next album, if the next one does a million i will be happy and anything more will be a bonus. Album sales with the exception of Adele are on the decline so i dont expect take that to keep sustaiing 2 million sales on each album.
February 27, 201213 yr Author They have hit 2 million+ on the last 4 of their full studio/greatest hits releases so I dont see why that would stop. They release every 2 years which builds demand, they release strong singles and they release at Christmas time when people buy excessively for themselves and others and so people might spend 8 pound on their album and give to someone else even if they dont necessarily like TT. I think that with BW selling very well in Europe with the tour, Circus not selling very well in Europe because there was no tour (even though Garden and Greatest Day did quite well in Europe/Asia) and then Progress selling well with promo, rob and a tour i can see a more Circus styled era coming up sales wise, which isnt that bad at all! Saying that they might release a Patience-esc first single and it hits home with loads of countries who knows!
February 27, 201213 yr A strong lead single like patience will certainly do no harm, im not saying they wont do 2 million what i am saying sales in general are decreasing and that may happen with Take That to, yes they are very popular and can sell albums but even band slike Coldplay etc have seen a sales decline so it can affect anyone. Either way the way TAke That album without doubt will do vwey well, its just a case of how well it will do. I guess what makes me slightly apprehenisve of the next release is progressed only added around 220,000 extra sales to progress in the UK, considering it was almost a full new album of material i would have liked it to have sold better, additionally the live album didnt sell aswell as i expected and the progress dvd even though a huge success is not selling aswell as the circus so all this makes me think there is a chance the next album wont do aswell, when i say this i truly hope i am wrong and i know some good promo and strong lead single can really drive sales upwards and possibly result in the next album hitting 2 million like the others have done so . February 27, 201213 yr Should the next album go on to sell 2 million UK copies I would be thrilled. I really do not know how things will work out though as the lead single, the order of singles and how the singles are promoted will play an important role. Also sometimes they do a tv show like an audience with Take That which have proved big sales boosters so another style show of this nature would play a difference but on the whole I do believe the album will be as succesfull as the previous 3 studio albums or very near to the success. I do have to agree about progressed and its disapointing sales. While I never expected the additional cd to bring in sales of 2 million I certainly thought it would give it a higher boost than 200,000 sales. We must not forget progressed was indeed just 1 short song of a full set of new songs and I do wonder why it did not sell more. Yes, the quality of the songs in general was not their best but I still would have thought it would have proved more successful as Love Love was a great introductory to it and they also performed it on the Movie Awards which i think drew an audience to ITV of about 6 million viewers.

Yeah thats a very good point about Coldplay, but in the UK their overall album sales have never been near the 1.5 or 2 million mark even though albums such as x&y and viva la vida opened with 300k+ sales. Progressed was an interesting one, It wasnt there best by WWWY and Love Love are very good songs but I think because the lead single was picked for airplay and only had one national tv promotional push at the movie awards people didnt register. If you addd the 100k sales of Love Love to the 220k sales of Progressed then you are right its very bad for TT, thats what i would expect from Westlife  The live album was only ever going to be bought by the hardcore or people who enjoy the live atmosphere on disc. GDL had the abbey road set which made it more appealing (to me anyways even though i did buy progress live). But as for the DVD i have no idea why it hasnt sold as much. Putting it into perspective it has sold ALOT more than normal music DVDs and did outsell the top 50 twice over when it was released. I think we'll have to put it down to people not having money to blow on additions to the Progress era. But as long as they buy the main centre pieces being the single and the studio album then its all good. Hopefully now Rob isnt around they will sort out their promo as it was abysmal last time round. I do expect Rob to sing on a track though, cant see him being excluded entirely, that way he might pop into one of the tours in 2013 sing a couple and be on his way
February 27, 201213 yr The first 2 Coldplay albums definitly sold over 2 million copies each and X and Y is not very far of the milestone if it isnt already there, the viva la vida album has sold 1.5 million and the current mylo xyloto is just over the million sales as it stands. I totally agree about the progress dvd, while it may not have sold as much as the circus dvd it is still a very big seller and as you mentioned outsold the top 50 twice over, the live cd i am not overly concerned about as it got absolutly no promotion and as there was already a successfull live album available it was never going to sell massively. However, progressed would be the more worrying scenario as there is no other way to sum it up than totally under performed and why we just wont know. Promotion of the singles in particular needs to be addressed and improved when the next era comes round as abysmal is totally correct in relation to how the singles have been managed, that said, some of the promotion around the singles from the circus could also be questioned.
February 27, 201213 yr Author Yeah definately agree, although I did like to hear more Gary on Progressed as he should have had at least one more main vocal along with Eight Letters on Progress. Greatest Day was performed on the MTV europe awards, X Factor, Children in Need and had been used many times running up to the release as an instrumental on adverts etc. Up all Night, all i remember with that was them performing it on Ant and Dec's takeaway show Said it All, ermm that was just performed on Jonathan Ross I think but the 3 different physicals pushed the sales and charting. All of those promos were on the week the songs came out and the physicals, music video and airplay were all nicely tied in for the week of release. No doubt in my mind that Kidz would have gone top 15 if they got all this together and Happy Now (was it actually an offical single? I cant find any official confirmation) was very mismanaged, a physical should have been released and it should have been released to radio earlier as it actually got pretty good airplay. Hope they live and learn by correcting it in the next era Edited February 27, 201213 yr by jay727
