Those knocking @will_young31 on #bbcqt are bonkers, do u have any idea of how scary it is? I thought he did brilliantly, on a v tough panel

Well said Kirstie. Tis so easy to criticise. That would be my comment too ...." you try it then. "

Haven't watched yet.

As I expected there's a mix of comments, but to be fair the actual politicians are also criticised. It's the nature of twitter. I do so admire his courage at putting himself out there.

He was pretty good in my opinion. :cheer: Getting plenty of good feedback on twitter, he will be very pleased and so he should be.

Knowing you have a keen interest in politics Ros and are an avid watcher of QT, I'm happy to read Will impressed.

The man with the bow tie in audience on question time has come up to me after the show thinking I am a politician!

Thought he was a little nervous at first (who wouldn't be on there) but came across very well :D

I thought Will did very well and he was much more relaxed this time, :D there will always be the usual flak and knockers to contend with and Will knows this.

Regardless of how he did, he's a darn site braver and more intelligent than they'll ever be that's for certain.

I haven't watched it yet..looking forward to it though. :D Reading twitter now..lots of comments, i take it he was trending?

Brave man, i admire him.

Editing...they have Will's comments about marriage up on the QT site..just watched it twice..most impressed! Looking forward to the rest even more now.

Have watched now and think he acquitted himself really well. :D

Bollocks to his knockers and bravo Will for taking every opportunity to push yourself, instead of compromising to fit others expectations.

We’ve always loved Will Young, and we love him even more for being so eloquent, well-dressed and passionate on last night’s Question Time.

The singer, who is just as smart as he looks - he studied Politics at university before shooting to fame in Pop Idol, defended the fight for gay marriage after Catholic cardinal Keith O’Brien attacked it last week in a column in The Telegraph.

Will said: “Gay marriage was not the top of my agenda for gay rights…but since I’ve heard these disgusting, repellant, archaic words from various people, particularly that awful man from Scotland, I’ve got more and more riled about it.”

He meant cardinal O’Brien, but was too angry to refer to him by name, adding: “This man said that [gay marriage] would be ‘grotesque’, he also likened it to slavery. He’s also talking incidentally, from an institution that has hardly been heralded as the paragon of moral virtue for the past two years."

"If this guy had been saying it, been talking like this against race or against religion, he’d be in court now."

He also spoke about his own desires to get married one day: “When I get married – if and when I get married – I want now to have it legal, so I can say ‘I’m having a gay marriage’ and I think it is important.”

Will held the audience’s attention throughout his speech, and ended: “We’ve come so far in this country, and I think that having gay marriage legalised is another huge step on the way.”

If you’d like to watch Will in action, check out the video on the BBC’s website.

Good show from Will tonight. #QT

I thought this was nice.. :)

I'm a Will Young fan...

I've never been a huge Will Young fan. Like many, I watched him win the first series of Pop Idol and I was impressed by the way he handled the press who tried to out him shortly after the competition.

Over the years, he's released a number of tracks that are hummable and which I've liked. Seeing his performance in Mrs Henderson Presents, I was further impressed by his acting skills.

I'd now like to announce that I am a fan; not for his music and acting talents (accomplished though they are) but for his appearance on the BBC's Question Time where he simply and eloquently stated his view on gay marriage, in light of Cardinal Keith O'Brien's hysterical and offensive rant against it.
