Scissor Sisters return with their new single ‘Only The Horses’ on 20th May. The New York band will release their fourth album ‘Magic Hour’ on 28th May through Polydor.

Speaking about album, Jake Shears says: “It’s a sweet joyful mélange of beat-driven future-pop. It style-hops all over the place unabashedly.”

The album was recorded over the past year in New York and London, with the single co-produced with Calvin Harris. The band’s relationship with Calvin started when Jake was working with him on material for Kylie Minogue’s 'Aphrodite' album. “When we wrote ‘Horses’, I immediately knew that he'd help knock it out of the park,” says Jake.

Ooh MUCH EXCITE. Well apart from we probably won't hear it for a month and it will be pulled a week before release :(
Cancelled last I heard. :( It would have flopped anyway, but it didn't even get the chance.
Don't like Shaky Love much at all. Still excited for the album though, there were a handful of gems on Night Work.

Good to see a release date announced. Looking forward to it, I just hope they can get some success out of this era. Shady Love really deserved to be a hit :(

Playing two London shows in May #woopwoop :funky:

First 'proper' single from Magic Hour supposedly.

Sounds inoffensive enough to be a hit I suppose. Definitely not as euphoric as it wants to be though.

It's pretty much exactly what I want from them right now. Glorious and melodic, well produced and most importantly FUN, unlike the turgid mess that was Shady Love.

I do wonder if Scissor Sisters will score a massive hit again. I really thought 'Fire With Fire' was a promising lead single but after that didn't quite live up to expectations, the album followed and swiftly vanished without trace not long after.

On first listen 'Only The Horses' sounds ok but for me it's missing the mark slightly. Have to agree with Jark, it's trying to be euphoric but coming off slightly damp.

...and most importantly FUN

Goodness! We must be listening to different songs. Breezy and melodic, yeah, fun, not particularly. It's quite MOR.

'Night Work' is probably as good as the debut. 'Fire With Fire' was bloody awful though.

This sounds like a Guetta version of The Sound of Arrows. Massive meh.

Well you aren't KNOWN for enjoying the Scissor Sisters anyway, but I do think it's fun, maybe that's just because of the BRIGHT COLOURS in the video though.

"Fire With Fire" sounded like the startup to the Chris Moyles show, I thought someone was gonna chirp-up with "Friday Cheesey Soooooonnnnggg".

"Shady Love" was cringeworthy, and this is.. er, I hate the phrase but 'sell-out' or maybe just 'out of ideas'.

Not sold on this at all. At least Shady Love had their personality all over it, this one could be by anyone.
