Will Young really can't do no wrong. Since 'Leave Right Now' (my first ever personal chart no. 1 single :D ) Will has never had a single miss the top 10. That's a really good streak of hit singles in my chart. The only Will Young single I couldn't stand was 'The Long And Winding Road' - not because it included the rather nasal Gareth Gates but because I've always found the song incredibly dull and boring.

"Noosa!" :o See what I did there? :lol: As compiler of the HIT30, I'm getting to the point where I'm trying to work out where the next big no. 1 single is going to come from. Michel Teló has been dominating the chart for almost 3 months and I still can't see anything in the next few weeks overtaking. It really is that massive right now in Europe!!! :o

It continues to climb ever so slowly. I just don't think I will ever get the overall appeal of Nicki Minaj. She has her moments but in general it's all a bit too weird for me to appreciate. For eg; the first verse in 'Starships' puts me off instantly but beyond that it's tolerable.

I decided to bend one of my chart rules slightly. I've usually charted my fave Eurovision songs the weekend after the contest. That would've meant 'Euphoria' wouldn't chart until 2nd June but by then the chances are I'd be slightly going off the song having heard it many times three months earlier. As it goes, Loreen has successfully entered the unofficial world chart; the HIT30 (shameless plug :P ) where any European hits that chart there also qualify for my chart without the need of an official UK release.

 

09 (--) Will Young - Losing Myself (09) [1 wk] The single version of this is brilliant! I think I prefer it to Jealousy!

 

I listened to both the album version and single version on iTunes and was a bit confuzzled!!! :lol: The single edit just sounds like the album version but pitched up slightly. I didn't buy it but it just seems a bit strange. It's still a very good song but I do prefer Will's first two singles from this era more.

I haven't. :o It's odd that 'Storytime' didn't quite have that much of an impact on me and charted at #24 before dropping down. Obviously this has done remarkably thanks to BJSC. I did have a " :D " when I saw 'The Crow, The Owl And The Dove' go to no. 1 in Finland even though it plummeted down to no. 15 the following week.

 

15 (10) The Storm - My Crown (10-08-10-15) [4 wks] Such a fantastic band! I highly recommend all three of their albums!

 

Well I entered 'Lost In The Fire' to Unknown Pleasures last year after seeing the track riding high in Denmark's chart. I like how they've managed to achieve an almost identical sound to ABBA in this track. However, it's just not quite had what it takes to battle through to climb any higher than #8. Carly Rae Jepson is one to watch - this happens quite often in BJSC. A song I only give a handful of points to ends up growing on me to the point where it ends up being a much bigger hit than I'd anticipated when first charting the track.

If it does, I do hope it's this version and not the tragic English translated version which manages to remove all traces of "fun" from the song. This song is just pure fun and unashamed fun at that. :D I'm surprised someone like Chris Moyles on Radio 1 hasn't already picked up on this. :lol:

Well the top 4 are all "winners" to some extent or another. Loreen won Melodifestivalen and will represent Sweden in Eurovision 2012. Sorry...will win Eurovision 2012 (it really is the only entry worth bothering with imo). It's a pure Euphoric (pun intended :D ) dance track that sounds like Avicii produced the backing track, and would've been the perfect comeback single for Leona Lewis if she insisted on going down the "club banger" route.

 

VNV Nation won Unknown Pleasures recently. A glorious anthemic track that gave me goosebumps the first time I played it. It's a good 6 minutes long but it's worth the listen. :wub:

 

Prance Faris is another glorious dance gem that I could easily see being a massive hit if it was ever given more promo to make people aware of the song's existance. It came third in last months BJSC but collected my 12 points.

 

Foxes 'Youth' won BJSC last month and whilst it got my 8 points, it was such a strong contest that 15 or so tracks made my chart off the back of the contest (when that happens, I know it was a good contest). A video for 'Youth' was released just a couple of days ago. It's a bit...odd, and not what I expected to be honest. Skip the awkward acting at the beginning (it seems all try hard to me sadly) and just enjoy the music.

I'm a fan enough for the song to just scrape in but overall I'm afraid not. I've heard this a fair few times thanks the music channels playing this quite a bit but I just haven't got into this song in the same way I did with 'All Of The Lights' but then that track entered at #14 and ended up peaking at no. 2 a few weeks later so who knows. :D

I only realised after I'd compiled my chart just how unlucky Swedish House Mafia are. It's official #7 is their glass ceiling in my chart. :lol: Both 'One (Your Name)' and 'Miami 2 Ibiza' climbed to #7. 'Antidote' was looking set to be a big hit but charted at #7 - lower than expected because I was already going off the song. Now I claim that 'Greyhound' is their best single yet and it still only manages #7!!! :lol: Depending on what happens next week, this is still sounding brilliant to see so won't plummet in the same way 'Antidote' did.

You can blame the music video for 'Part Of Me' just making my top 10. The video has been getting loads of airplay ever since it premiered but I do think it's a decent video. It doesn't seem to have done anything to help sell the single which I find quite surprising.

Considering I only gave this 1 point (in a very strong contest where about 5 other tracks I didn't give points to have made my top 40) 'Call Me Maybe' continues to grow on me. I like the track more now than I did 5 weeks ago and it keeps growing on me. Another of those BJSC related songs that I find myself liking more post contest. Whether this becomes another 'Nuclear Seasons' or '212' is left to be seen. :o
