Their new single is alright but I think most people are of the opinion that Lostprophets were better back in 2004. Their biggest hit in my chart was 'Last Summer' which peaked at #3. That said, this has actually managed to peak higher than their last single which entered at no. 39 before drifting away after that.

I absolutely love all of my top 5 so don't be too disheartened that Loreen has slipped 01-04 this week. I've adored 'Colours' ever since I first heard it - so much so I even bought the track on iTunes. :wub: So it was always going to be a strong contender for no. 1 in my chart and that's exactly what's happened. Laleh was easily my second favourite song from last months BJSC so again was always going to do well. Finally 'Take You Higher' is an excellent dance gem - more indie than 'Flares' but brilliant in its own way.

If I had to compare my top 4 to another chart, it'd be the UK Xmas top 4 of 1997. :D All absolutely massive hits where the no. 4 had excellent sales that would put it no. 1 in a quiet week earlier in the year. Loreen hasn't peaked (well, technically she has :P ) but 'Euphoria' isn't going anywhere fast.

I can't believe I've been putting Jepson all this time and never realised I was wrong. :drama: This has proven to be the biggest grower from BJSC XLI. This really is like a chart run from 2004 where select tracks would enter low and continue growing until they peaked much higher. The record still belongs to Fall Out Boy 'Sugar, We're Going Down' which started off at #37, then finally reached no. 1 fourteen[/i] ( :o ) weeks later.

Well, #16 is still good considering I have such a massive top 5 this week where Plan B was never going to break up. However, I still much prefer 'She Said' and even some of his other singles from his 2010 album compared to this.

That doesn't mean I dislike the song (that much). I just about like the track enough for it to make my top 40. If it was no. 38 in the UK charts, I say its peak was justified. :D

Yes, but due to an extremely strong top 3 all benefitting from the BJSC effect. 'Colours' and 'Some Die Young' were always going to do well. To be honest, these were always going to chart whereas Loreen benefitted from a slight bend in one of my existing chart rules. :D So don't think 'Euphoria' is going to crash and burn because it's nowhere near ready to do that.

It's interesting how I really liked Plan B's 2010 era yet 'iLL Manors' has proven to be more popular with others and less so with me. :o

It all depends. If 'Pull Of The Eye' enters the HIT30, it will qualify for my chart. Or it gets entered into BJSC. Or gets given an official UK release. That said, I've heard this track and I personally prefer 'City Boy' anyways.

BJSC has had a massive impact on my chart. Considering these are tracks that I'm listening to for a good two weeks before selecting my faves that I continue listening to, it's only fair they do well here. It's also freshened up my chart a lot with tracks doing well in my chart before becoming big UK hits months later. My main criteria is that no BJSC faves will make my Pre-Relase Chart until after the results of the final have been revealed. This is so that my votes aren't given away prior to the contest.

'Colours' was always going to do well in my chart. It's a track I discovered via Cyprus' singles chart website. As it is, Addy beat me to it and confirmed the song first. It was probably all for the best as had I entered the song, Addy might not have given me 12 points so Ashton may well have won instead. :o

10 (14) Carly Rae Jepson - Call Me Maybe (34-26-17-14-10) [5 wks] So happy Carly is doing as well as she is!! It seems to be in lots of people's charts as well now! Maybe there's a chance she could do well in BJSC The Best Of? :kink:

 

'Call Me Maybe' was entered into a really strong contest imo. Even though I only gave it 1 point, I'd say I like this on par with some of the 8 or 7 pointers I've awarded in other not quite as strong contests. It has continued growing on me, and perhaps the increase in video airplay has helped too. The video somehow makes the song better - it all works in a wonderfully weird way. :lol: I'm sure Carly Rae Jepsen will do well in BJSC - The Best Of 2012. Potential winner actually!!! :o

Well I entered this into BJSC last August when it was breaking through in Australia, New Zealand, Belguim and Netherlands. It's slowly worked its way across the world becoming popular in ever more countries. When this first charted in the UK I was thrilled to see I track I'd be adoring for 3 months finally going top 40 here. So when it did finally make no. 1 it was a proper :w00t: moment. Again like 'Call Me Maybe', I think the video to this song is a real selling point - it compliments the song so effectively. :wub:

I got home from work, checked iTunes, saw this at #8 and thought "what?!!!". :lol: Imagine if this does get to no. 1 in the UK, that'll be the second single that will have topped the UK charts roughly 3 months after topping my chart. :lol:
