In fairness though the album will probably hang around for a little while longer, it only dropped 5 this week cos of Bieber and Cheryl and sales will probably still be around 12-15k

Not a bad chart run for Sing though 11-1-3-11, it'll have probably shifted another 30-40k this week though hopefully, which would bring it up to around the 250k mark. I hope they reduce it now to 59p! If they do then it'll boost it, keep it in the charts for a couple more weeks and push it over the 300k mark. Have to wait and see! :)

Its holding on well and number 6 is ok for me this week as i had said i feared a huge drop, i dont mind now what happens but he wont have the record from biggest drop from number 1 etc. Likewise in the singles im happy with the chart run, and yes the 59p would be great so hopefully it will happen.
I believe these one of style releases suit Gary well and is something he should continue doing every now and again. Shame and Sing have both added further credibility to his solo discography and both have been successful. These side line projects to Take That is what i believe works best.

Yep definitely! He now has a number 1 album, and two top 2 singles rather than a constant decline from Forever Love and LWW to FATYW and 12 months. I just wish 12 months would get a new peak somehow. Its so much better than Open Road and deserves at least top 10

Album sing sold another 12,126 this week

Single sing sold 25,000

The sales are fine again this week thankfully, while it will sell in coming weeks last week would be the last week for relatively high sales. Sadly, 12 months 11 days wont re-peak as it is a thing of the past that will probably always stay there, yes, a re-release etc. would be great and a nice new chart position but im 99.99999999% certain it will not happen.

Yeah, its a shame though. It could have been different if Lie To Me was released, that was building up airplay at the time but was shelved cos of the poor sales of 12 Months. Ideally they would have released Lie To Me as the first single and Wondering as the 2nd single..but im grasping at straws here. The only way it would repeak would be if someone covered one of the songs from it which is highly unlikely, if Gary performs one at some point which again is not very likely as the only two solo songs he does regularly are Open Road and Forever Love (even though in twitter last week he was asked what his fav song was from 12 months and he said Lie To Me), or if something unexpected happens that no one can see.

Main thing is that his album chart discography now looks like 1-35-1 rather than 1-35 and then nothing

His singles discography was quite strong anyways, ive seen alot worse, 1-1-11-7-16-24, now its 1-1-11-7-16-24-2-1...Just a shame that shame didnt go top, but selling 200k means it is still a success

Oh and Sing has moved up 7 to 88 in Belgium this week :cheer:

I am thrilled Gary named Lie to me as his favourite, i have yet to see him talk about the album, i would be very interested in hearing him talk directly about the whole album and what songs he likes dislikes etc.

Indeed his single discography looks good but you forgot to add in here comes the sun. I do agree its a shame that shame did not hit the top spot, when i first heard they were doing it i was in doubt a number 1 was on the way, so it was disapointing it didnt. I am not arguing it wasnt a success because it was but i would argue that it certainly did not sell as well as many many people inclduing myself believed.

Yeah so would I, i remember in an interview on youtube somewhere he was asked briefly about it and he said it was doomed from the beginning and that only 3 songs were good enough to be on the album. I think he was being too hard on it personally as its alot stronger than Open Road. Here's that link to Gary saying that about Lie To Me >> http://www.celeb-tweets.co.uk/tweet/214456568924745729 . As said already Gary only likes Forever Love and Open Road from Open Road. He calls Open Road the best song on that album on his website if you have a look on his discography bit. In fact Pippa he says a couple of bits about both albums on there so if you haven't already you should check it out www.garybarlow.com

Yeah it was but Cee Lo had that monster hit that week even though Gary and Robbie were number 1 on itunes for 3 or 4 days, they were always behind Cee Lo who had if i remember it an EP in the top 5, the clean version at number 8 and the explicit version at number 2/3...

It did chart in 19 countries worldwide though so sales were probably nearer 500k overall all told, but the TT reunion less than a month after probably took the light off the song with The Flood being 100x stronger. Although it did the job in my opinion as it bridged the gap between the fall out and the reunion, got Robbie valuable promo for his GH whilst also getting him back on track after his last single bombed at number 44 or something and got Gary back in the limelight again.

Thank you very much for the links. I agree, shame indeed bridged the gap and it was a lovely ballad, however, when i heard The Flood it made shame sound very weak. As you said, shame bridged the gap well and returned Gary and Robbie back to the top 2 which hadnt happened for a while (in their own right).

No problem! On a side note GB: On Her Majesty's Service is out on DVD now, got my copy in the post for a fiver from amazon which i thought was pretty reasonable! I wonder if it will chart on the music DVD chart or the regular DVD chart
As the dvd doesnt contain just all music, i would suspect it will chart in the normal dvd chart as opposed to the music dvd chart. Music dvd chart usually consists of concert releases etc.

Didn't Look Back Dont Stare chart in the music charts? That's very similar if it did as it to is documenting the process of writing a song
Very valid point, as Look Back Dont Stare did indeed chart in the music chart, from that perspective this dvd will do the same.
Referring to the mid week update both versions of sing look like dropping 12 places this week, at present it is number 23 in the singles chart and number 18 in the album chart.

As long as Sing the single gets another couple of weeks in the top 40 i'll be happy, i thought it would have left the top 40 already by now. Same with the album, i reckon we could still get a month or so out of that with all the patriotism of the olympics coming up etc
Not sure about another month, if it ends up #23 this week i would say next week will be its last week top 40, album wise it may manage it with sales so low, 3,000 would roughlt hold it in the top 40 so the album version may hang on longer, ideally id like both to accomplish 10 weeks top 75 each.
With a slightly sharper decline this week the likely outcome is Sing will be lower than number 23 in the singles chart. I believe 1 more week within the Top 40 is the likely result after this week. The album chart is somewhat easier to hold a place in, as mentioned sales are much lower which will aid strengthening the chart run, for example last week 1,800 sales kept an album in the top 70.
That would be ideal and is the likely outcome, a double figure for weeks on chart would be a lovely outcome and also help add a few extra weeks to Gary Barlow's solo name on the chart records.
