Posted April 4, 201213 yr Australian singer/songwriter Missy Higgins is back! Anyone who knew me in 2005 and 2007 will know that she's one of my favourite artists. I still rank Ten Days amongst me all time favourite songs and then there's the likes of Scar, The Special Two and Nightminds from her debut album The Sound of White and Steer, Peachy and Where I Stood from her second album, On A Clear Night. After five years away she's back with a new album called The Ol' Razzle Dazzle, produced by Brad Jones and Butterfly Boucher, which she explains is titled that because "There are a few songs that touch on struggling to juggle the ‘performer’ side of things with the personal," she says, "And how that led to feeling as though I had metaphorical rock stuck in my throat for a long time; there is a song about my beautiful grandma, a song of frustration at the world’s leaders, songs about an electric kind of love, heartache, desire, and the journey back to my estranged, yet only true love: music. The parody of the ‘entertainer’ is explored on many tracks, thus the album is called The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle. It’s a bit tongue in cheek, you could say." Lead single Unashamed Desire will be out on April 23rd whilst the album is due out on June 1st. I've been waiting for this one longer than I've been waiting for Delta's new album, it's fair to say that my anticipation is high!
