So the girls are coming into their 4th album and are nearly on their 12th single. Their 'Greatest Hits' collection isn't far off, so what would you like to see on it?

It may seem like a silly question as a Greatest Hits collection will have all their 'greatest hits' on it - but what about the other tracks that you think are also worthy of being a part of their signature compilation album? Think about your favourite album tracks, b-sides, remixes even and put together your own Greatest Hits of The Saturdays.

This one makes a lot of sense, in the download era I think Greatest Hits don't really need to surface until album #5 tbh.

I really hope we don't get a Greatest Hits next year, I would much rather another studio album, otherwise they are going down the same road as Hilary Duff did, who had album #1- album #2- compilation- album #3- Best Of. So far The Sats have album #1- album #2- compilation- album#3

If we do end up with a Greatest Hits/Singles Collection/Best Of next year I assume it will look something like this.

1. Lead Single

2. Ego (Single Mix)

3. All Fired Up!

4. Issues (Radio Mix)

5. If This Is Love

6. Missing You

7. Album 3- Single 3

16. New Track

17. Up

Tried to mix it all around a bit. Put Up last just cause I think the last song should be amazing. I am obviously assuming we will get 5 singles off of the album out later this year. Not sure if this is a bit long for a greatest hits, so hopfuly they will bill it as a singles collection so nothing gets cut out. (Although Girls Aloud released a Greatest Hits and included all of their singles, Sugababes released a Singles Collection but didnt included all their singles...)

Completely forgot about the next single after The Way You Watch Me, and the lead single from the GH! Oops.

Can we really call Headlines a compilation though? This is actually a puzzling question

Well it's not really a full studio album, nor is it a re release. I kinda view it in a similar way to Most Wanted was for Hilary Duff, it was a filler untill a full new album, and the follow up to a second album that fell short of the expectations set by the first album.

Headlines is an EP.. its not by anymeans a compliation. It only had two of their previous 7 singles on there.

It had 3 (or 6 if you are looking at the exapanded version) previously released tracks on it though. Also no matter how you view it Headlines isn't an EP it runs too long for it to be counted as an EP.

Its still much too early for a GH, I hope they follow Pink or J-lo's example. Pink released 5 albums with 4 or 5 singles each and Jenny has 6 English, 1 Spanish

and a remix album and is only just planning on a GH.

I want it to be worth the money, at least 15 singles and 2-3 new songs including a single.

The Saturdays would have to have a Best Of, not a greatest hits. I don't know, why but when those two are used the wrong way round it annoys me!

Work: The Greatest Hits/Best of The Saturdays/Whatever you want to call it. :P

I can't put other new tracks in, I'd need to know what it'd be like before I know where to put it. :)

Quite ironic how my title is Work: The Greatest Hits, when Work was their worst selling single...

Why would The Sats have to call their 'Greatest Hits' collection a 'The Best of' instead?

As far as I'm concerned The Saturdays have had plenty of hits and good/big healthy sales on all their singles (bar 2, 1 of them being their debut, and the 2nd well, Work it out for yourself - I'm terrible at jokes). If you're going by sales* then (for example) technically Girls Aloud's 'Greatest Hits' should have been a 'Best of' as they had singles that sold 60k..

*Yes I know that 60k was during the worst single sales ever etc etc but what happened happened!

I like that, but maybe less Healines tracks on disc 2? I'd personally have the albums versions on disco 1 then the singles mixes etc on the second.

A Greatest Hits and a Best Of should in theory be very different as they both mean different things. Acts which release a Greatest Hits should include their hits and hits only, you can't include an album track and call it a Greatest Hit. As The Saturdays have only had what, a dozen singles, it would kind of make a GH redundant, as it would include all of those and maybe a couple of new tracks, therefore picking your own tracklisting should just be which order do you think their singles should be in, the answer to which IMO is always chronologically.

A Best Of should be completely different, as it includes the songs which are the 'best of' an artist so that can therefore be anything, because it's what you think is their best material which is how people have been answering and how you would answer, as I think it's fairly stupid to release a compilation like this with anything less than 15 songs, and as The Saturdays only currently have 11 hits it would therefore have to be a best of as you include other tracks, album tracks of b-sides which show the best of the act.

I'd say one of the most high profile GH vs. BO compilations was Oasis, where they'd had 6 albums to that point but only 4 of its 18 songs were from their last four albums. They left off number one singles and included album tracks and b-sides purely because it was a Best Of and not either a singles collection or Greatest Hits, therefore justifying their inclusions. A Best Of shows the Best Of a band, a Greatest Hits shows an acts biggest hits, and a singles collection should be their complete discography. It's probably just me being really annoying and anal though, it's just one of those pet hates, to me the three mean three different things so shouldn't be used interchangeably.

JLo is releasing a Greatest Hits? Hell yes. She was always one of those artists who has weak albums (imo) but strong single choices.

I would also welcome a GH collection from The Saturdays, but perhaps not yet. I reckon it'd do a Girls Aloud (become their biggest-selling album to date), as they're both very strong singles acts, but not necessarily good at selling albums.

I agree with what you've said actually - the Oasis one was a great example because "Stop the Clocks" only surfaced because Sony wanted a compilation from the band and Noel thought he'd rather make it a 'Best Of' which he was proud of. The true Greatest Hits arrived last year and was actually still a really good listen - although maybe that's because I've played most of their earlier stuff to death and it was refreshing to hear stuff like "D'You Know What I Mean?" (which is one of favourites of theirs) properly recognised.

Just realised I've gone a bit off topic... with The Saturdays I do think that they should wait a good while before releasing a compilation. For an act that's never been huge-selling (sorry, but let's face it), it would be too much of a niche product for fans unless it was really laden with hits and of a good length (16+ songs).

Next year sometime :D
