So play could be your first top two since The Show? :o

Could NOT is more likely. The last two winners weren't as universally predicted to win as 'Play' is currently.

I guess Kerli for me. Unfortunately her mainstream success has somewhat affected the quality of her music!

- Keri Hilson feat. Ne-Yo & Kanye West 'Knock You Down' (finished 10th BJSC 15; UK Peak = #5): Confirmed this as soon as the album leaked and before it was announced as a single. As the contest got going it was announced to be a single and had a video done for it.

- The Yeah You's '15 Minutes' (finished 26th BJSC 16; UK Peak = #36): I'd been waiting for this song to leak after hearing a 15/30 second clip on popjustice 2 or 3 months before confirmation or something, then it leaked and I decided to send it. But of a crap entry looking back now though...

- Lemar 'The Way Love Goes' (finished 15th BJSC 23; UK Peak = #8): I sent this as it leaked and it seemed to have a reasonable reaction. I believe the final week was the week it was released.

But other than them, none of my others have gone on to be hits here in the UK. :( I guess The Yeah You's are the only ones who haven't had a hit before though...

My biggest hit is Alexandra Stan's Mr Saxobeat which went top 3 in the UK about 6 weeks after I entered it.

I was just wondering which song is the biggest out of Somebody That I Used To Know and Call Me Maybe which have both been the most recent massive hits from BJSC?

I think that while Somebody That I Used To Know has done better so far, maybe Call Me Maybe can still catch up on Gotye's success as Carly seems to be still in more charts now compared to Gotye.

They're both quite evenly matched though with Gotye just holding the upper hand I think! :kink:

STIUTK is MUCH bigger, I don't think it's even debatable.

NOT BIASED AT ALL :kink:

Haha  I agree with you that STIUTK is definitely the biggest so far, but I still think Carly is reaching her peak while Gotye has reached his in charts now. Only time will tell :kink:

STIUTK (while I really deteste that song) is by far the bigger out of the two. Even if Carly does (I don't think she will though) topple Gotye's overall STIUTK sales in the UK, she won't in other places like say..US.

Songs that were hits before I sent them:

BJSC I || Sugababes - Push The Button || UK #1

BJSC V || Sugababes - Hole In The Head || UK #1

BJSC XI || Gabriella Cilmi - Don't Wanna Go To Bed || AUS top40 'Smash'

BJSC XX || Tone Damli Aaberge - Butterflies || NO #2

BJSC BJFestivalen || Jessica Mauboy - Burn || AUS #1

BJSC XXXVII || Veronica Maggio - Jag Kommer || SWE #1, NO #12

BJSC XXXVIII || Morten Breum feat. Sissie Marie - Every Time (You Look At Me) || DK #1

Songs that were hits after I sent then:

BJSC VI || Lily Allen - The Fear || Worldwide #1 - Was just a demo, probable album reject when I sent it.

BJSC XX || Tone Damli Aaberge - Butterflies || UK airplay top 40, iTunes UK top 300 'hit'

BJSC XXIII || Sidney Samson feat Wizzard Sleeve - Riverside (Mother Fucker) || UK #2, hit elsewhere in the world.

BJSC XXVI || Richard Vission, Static Revenger and Luciana - I Like That || AUS #3, US Hot Dance #1

BJSC XXXIV || Stan Walker - Loud || AUS #9

BJSC XLI || Tone Damli Aaberge - Look Back || NO #8

I'm not afraid of a prior hit

I Kissed a Girl

Tik Tok

can't really think of anything else (Shark in the Water? not really a hit and she already had released her other singles)

Of all of my entries I guess it's safe to mention Donkeyboy with 'Ambitions' Didn't some random UK guy cover that at some point too?

A random UK guy did indeed. Joe McElderry, quite a decent cover, it's a lot more uptempo but quite a bit more lifeless.

NONE of my entries have had success aside from Alyssa Reid being a low top 40 hit in Canada. If Alyssa ever follows up in the UK I might have one to my tally but it'll likely flop.

I remember seeing his music video. It was fun, and the cover was alright.. but I felt he didn't 'respect' the song. Donkeyboy sort of deserved whatever success he gained from that.

Edit: Oh so his names was Joe McELDERRY! Up until this point I always remembered his name as Joey McELDERLY - which I automatically thought was a horrid name :(

I have no idea who sent the song but 'Awkward' from San Cisco (which I really liked btw) has just entered the Dutch tipparade so there is a chance it'll enter the Dutch top40 in a few weeks :cheer:

XII Franz Ferdinand - Ulysses #20

XIV Tommy Sparks - She's Got Me Dancing #14

XV Phoenix - 1901 #72, widespread blogosphere acclaim.

XVIII Florence and the Machine - Cosmic Love #51, #3 Ireland

XXVII Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros - Home #28 USA

...but none since.

XIX deadmau5 feat. Rob Swire - Ghosts N Stuff #12

XXIII Vampire Weekend - Cousins #39

XXVII Dennis Ferrer - Hey Hey #55

XXXI Beth Ditto - I Wrote The Book #76 (technically was the self titled 4-track EP it appeared on, but IWTB was the main promoted track IIRC)

XXXVIII Joe Goddard feat. Valentina - Gabriel #49

The only Persephonian entries that have gone top 100 in the UK.
