The lack of love for 'All My Friends'!

I got as far as Australia by the Manics before realising I wouldn't agree with most of this list. Great song but in the 150 best singles in the last 15 years? No

An impossible list to make and I can't say I agree much with the result either.

I always preferred "Ms Jackson" to "Hey Ya!" anyway, but both are great songs.

B.O.B. is probably better than both these songs. This song is insane in a good way:

 

 

 

I'm not sure about the order at all. They are trying to balance, quality, their indie cred and cultural pervasion and not really creating a list of anything.

 

Some of the songs they put above Maps and Everlong is a disgrace. Then some of the song choices are iffy, no Somebody Told me by the Killers. Foos only having one entry and no Best of You? Choosing Dog Days are Over ahead of Cosmic Love by Florence? Choosing Over and Over by Hot Chip and not And I was a Boy from School?

Also, why 15? Feels a bit random 2 me. Didn't decade lists just come out anyway, why the need? It's so recent to do anything like this. (I agree that maybe 70s - 80s could be interesting and also easier to judge)

Some additional notes a la OHMYGODTHELISTISSOWRONG:

 

Blur's songs are also quite random, as are Oasis'. "Song 2" is an ok choice I guess but "Out of Time" over "Beetlebum", "Tender" and "Coffee & TV" seems a bit weird.

 

Also the zillion tracks by The Strokes.. When "You Only Live Once" isn't even one of them.

Anybody up for doing our own version of this seeing as there's so much dissatisfaction with the list.

 

I'd be happy to sort this all out.

Rebellion is a fantastic song though. Even more fantastic live.

The inclusion of Australia is confusing - it's rarely mentioned as a classic Manics single. If You Tolerate This, Masses Against the Classes and Your Love is Not Enough are a bit more worthy in my opinion.

 

The ones you've listed are all from the fully post-Richey era and the NME will naturally want to mention him. I'd also say none of those three are classics, all paling compared to what the Manics did in their first four albums, but hey ho. Personally, if they had to take one from Everything Must Go, then it should have been Kevin Carter.

Total WTF moments with Oasis... Where are 'Idle' and 'Songbird' for example?

 

Both very poor, Songbird possibly the worst thing they ever did.

 

NME quite hated Garbage in the past. Now they seems to like them a bit. They posted recently an article "Garbage still not cool, still pretty fantastic". Also Butch Vig ranked #9 on their Top 50 best producers ever.

 

He wouldn't have made the list if he hadn't done Nevermind!

So agree with this. Towers above everything else on the album.
