April 19, 201213 yr Speaking of Towers, that NME list didn't contain ANYTHING by Bon Iver. Its one of those cases where every time you look at it you see something they missed. Yet they include multiple tracks by The Strokes and Klaxons song, typical indie press. Speaking of, no Editors? Edited April 19, 201213 yr by Paramore
April 19, 201213 yr Anybody up for doing our own version of this seeing as there's so much dissatisfaction with the list. I'd be happy to sort this all out. Could split it into decades? 1990s & a 2000-present? Go further back if there's demand....
April 19, 201213 yr Could split it into decades? 1990s & a 2000-present? Go further back if there's demand.... Could do a 21st Century one and then go further back if there's the interest.
April 20, 201213 yr Would be cool to do a kind of "indie rate" like the ones over on the charts page. Proper indie, mind!
April 20, 201213 yr Author The ones you've listed are all from the fully post-Richey era and the NME will naturally want to mention him. I'd also say none of those three are classics, all paling compared to what the Manics did in their first four albums, but hey ho. Personally, if they had to take one from Everything Must Go, then it should have been Kevin Carter. Of course they are all poorer than the first 4 albums - everyone knows that. But three of those albums were outside the 15/16 year bracket and were ineligible - but I don't have to yell you that. :D Edited April 20, 201213 yr by tonyttt31
April 20, 201213 yr Author I was going to suggest it - I did many a 90 and 00s rate in the days of CHC. I'm fine with someone else doing it.
April 20, 201213 yr Author So agree with this. Towers above everything else on the album. really? The Lyrics for Removables are better. Although Kevin Carter is amazing. Side note - A Design for Life was released 16 years ago today.
April 20, 201213 yr Side note - A Design for Life was released 16 years ago today. Cripes, I feel old. I remember buying the cassingle of this after a first year uni lecture.
April 21, 201213 yr B.O.B. is probably better than both these songs. This song is insane in a good way: fVyVIsvQoaE So so good, it is my favourite OutKast single, though its easy to see why Hey Ya! tends to get more recognition. "Empire State of Mind" top 20 is hilarious, no love for The Blueprint? I would have had Kanye, All My Friends and MAPS much higher.
April 23, 201213 yr Could do a 21st Century one and then go further back if there's the interest. There's been very little to shout about in the 21st century - I'd say go back first and then come up to date if there's the interest...
April 23, 201213 yr There's been very little to shout about in the 21st century - I'd say go back first and then come up to date if there's the interest... I'd imagine there would be more interest from a wider breadth of the forum were there to be a 21st century one first.

Very pleased that Buffalo Stance is in the Top 10 and It's A Sin is Top 20 - I would have thought they'd go for West End Girls. The presence of Beat Dis also pleases me. As much New Order as there is they should have put True Faith in there instead of Bizarre Love Triangle. Pleased with the Madonna selection too.
May 1, 201213 yr "Blue Monday" is one of my favourite songs of all-time, and I LOVE the inclusion of "Bizarre Love Triangle" as well. I agree about "True Faith" as well.

May 1, 201213 yr I don't know anyone who doesn't appreciate Come on Eileen... Maybe it's a cultural difference :P
May 1, 201213 yr "Come On Eileen" and "Young At Heart" are my two worst songs of all-time. I've made it well documented in real life, H8 EM!
May 1, 201213 yr What the flying f*** is April Skies doing there, one of the Mary Chain's most safe singles while Upside Down isn't there at all is ludicrous. Oh and Debaser wasn't a single during the 80s, dullards. WTF is Womack and Womack doing there, a dreadful oversweet sickly mess of a single that is probably only there coz The XX covered it. Although I am surprised by the amount of metal on there, especially Master of Puppets. I thought when the last editor finally pissed things might look up but it now seems to be written by 5 year olds.
