April 19, 201213 yr Will this be a weekly feature now? I'd find it quite interesting to look at every week :D [although it's basically the US chart in a slightly different order]
April 19, 201213 yr I love the Canadian chart. Like Australia and NZ, it's often several weeks ahead of the Hot 100 given Canada is a much smaller country so songs can blow up faster. I first noticed this back in 2008 when Lady GaGa was all over the Canadian charts but still completely unknown down here. Fast forward a few months... With a handful of rare exceptions (e.g. Nikki Yanofsky's 2010 Vancouver Olympics song I Believe), if a song makes it big in Canada it will make it big in the US eventually. Is this similar to the Irish charts vis-a-vis UK charts?

Is this similar to the Irish charts vis-a-vis UK charts? What happens in one country usually happens very similarly in the other country too, but with obvious bias to Irish acts in Ireland. I wouldn't say Ireland are necessarily ahead of the UK though. That's what I can tell being a casual observer anyway.
April 19, 201213 yr Ireland is usually quite behind the UK. With UK acts especially it's usually a few weeks after a song becomes a hit in the UK before it really blows up in Ireland. Starry Eyed entered at like #22 and climbed to #4 eventually, Kelis' Acapella (as an international example) entered at like #40 and peaked at #17 weeks after it went top 5 in the UK, Azealia took off a few weeks after she did in the UK etc. Occasionally it seems like Ireland is ahead because international acts are less prone to holding stuff back here (and so Carly Rae went #1 ages before the UK) but really I find it tends to mimic the UK charts in general with, like Slick said, a bias to Irish acts. And with British acts being less successful in general. Edited April 19, 201213 yr by Umi
April 19, 201213 yr Also most "Urban" acts don't do so well in Ireland as in the UK and looks as tho most of the Hip-hop/R&B tracks are lower here than in the US
