May 19, 201213 yr Author Another MOMENT! Goosebumps into the final chorus when the backing vocalists did a Nadine Beiler-style reveal. Another potential winner definitely  5E35-GMwB6U
May 19, 201213 yr Author Yeah, remind me how Nadine Beiler did in the end Ryan? About 18th! :P I think this is more powerful than Nadine though, I think it could finish at least top 5!
May 19, 201213 yr Spain looks like a winner to me now (which is worrying for them given their current financial situation :kink:). Nadine was a bit too "Disney-esque" for Eurovision whereas this could easily be a Leona Lewis track if translated into English.
May 19, 201213 yr Her career hasn't exactly been uppy up since 2008 though, has it? Honestly, going by the fan reaction every time somebody nails a money note in rehearsal you'd think half the entrants to every contest were contenders for victory!
May 19, 201213 yr Author Engelbert is sounding very poor from what we can hear on the ESC Xtra live stream! :o Hopefully he'll improve in the next run-through!
May 19, 201213 yr I had absolutely no doubts whatsoever about Pastora pull off such incredible vocals. Now for Loreen to not get anywhere near the 19th performing slot please.
May 19, 201213 yr Author The guy who is recording all of the rehearsals for ESCXtra has just come back to the stream and said it was terrible on one of the run-throughs! It sounded terrible from what we can hear on the stream too, major improvement needed please Hump!
May 19, 201213 yr There is no way on this EARTH Pastora is coming anything close to winning, to be honest if she makes top 10 I will be pretty AGOG. That said vocally it'll clearly be incredible and the performance itself looks to be quite simple/suited to the song. If the juries get behind her in a big way I can see her maybe being 12th or something, if not probably more like 18th.
May 19, 201213 yr Author He had to pull out of the two big notes again on the latest run-through from what we can hear on the ESC Xtra live stream. Hopefully he's just saving himself! In better news, I love the staging and the first half of the song is well sung! Edited May 19, 201213 yr by Ryan741
May 19, 201213 yr Loving the staging for Engelbert! Nice and simple and the backdrop looks great. Very glad to see such a good vocal too, hopefully he can pull it out of the bag like that on the night, it'll be a proper tingles down spine moment if he does!
May 19, 201213 yr Not really David! It's COMPETENT but it was quite pedestrian - she does nothing with the brilliant 'BOOM BOOM BOOM' hook (seriously, she's singing it as if it was just another lyric), and the performance doesn't have the drama and urgency it NEEDS to be a contender. At the moment it's just THERE as a song. True, although the same can be said for Sweden. It's obvious that both Loreen and Nina are holding back a lot. :o
May 19, 201213 yr Some comments on the AKOE blog that I really disagree with. Firstly the implication that Nina is lock on for top three purely because it's better than their entry that finished 2nd last year. That it may be but lightning never strikes twice at Eurovision. Secondly, the fact that everything with a great vocal in the rehearsal is 'coming top 10' or 'in the mix to win' whilst everything with a below par vocal is going to struggle to qualify. Thirdly, the fact that Keith is wondering why people are questioning why Russia wouldn't be a good winner for the contest. Seriously? Novelty crap with a charming gimmick but little resembling a tune would be a great winner? It's the sort of thing the UK were drubbed for sending pretty much every year of the noughties, but Russia can get away with it? I dread to think what the standard would be like next year if they did win... Finally, Keith's views on Euphoria, which I knew would irritate me. 'I know this is a rehearsal, but if I was judging Sweden’s chances on this alone, I would say they were a potential non-qualifier.' A song which has already hit #1 in a few countries and been top ten in another 6 or 7 on hype and early airplay alone, thus almost guaranteed points from all of those and probably everybody else (seeing as music charts across Europe tend to share a lot of similar songs) is a 'potential non-qualifier'? Am I in a parallel universe to him? Running Scared had a WOEFUL vocal, Fairytale was patchy at best but had bags of personality, Lena was Lena, Believe was strained and weak vocally, they were all winners because they were popular songs. It's a SONG contest, not a vocal/talent contest. A poor vocal will only hamper a crap song, a song destined to do well will do well regardless of the vocal. Rybak could have sung Fairytale completely off key and still won with ease, Valentina could put in the greatest vocal of all time and still DNQ. Rant over! I'd post my views in the comment section on the blog but my comments never get approved, wonder why :P

I doubt he really thinks it's a potential non-qualifier.
May 19, 201213 yr He's so frustrating with whatever he has against Sweden every year and it's like he blanks everyone else out sometimes (see below statement). He can be a very good source of info at times but ugh. I learnt now to trust any of his predictions in 2010 when Lena won which he didn't see coming at all (but we could). Everyone believed Rybak would win, it's hard to find someone who believes Loreen will. OH REALLY?!
May 19, 201213 yr Re; the Englebert rehearsal posted above, that final note is horrid. I hope he manages to pitch the final note to perfection like on the studio version.
