Probably the toughtest group for Team GB males.

D looks quite tricky as well, although with ours I'm not too up to speed on how good Senegal and UAE are.

Depends whether Senegal bring Cisse and Ba really. Either way in theory we should qualify.

Uruguay will probably top the group, but yep I'm not too familiar with Senegal or UAE either

You'd expect we'd be able to get through the group, but with Stuart Pearce in charge I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't

Uruguay have confirmed that three of their four main stars will definitely go. I'd imagine it'll be Lugano as a defender and two of Forlan, Suarez and Cavani rather than the trio of attackers.

Confirmed Team GB Football Squad

Goalkeepers: Jack Butland [19, Birmingham City], Jason Steele [21, Middlesbrough]

Defenders: Ryan Bertrand [22, Chelsea], Steven Caulker [20, Tottenham], Craig Dawson [22, West Brom], Danny Rose [22, Tottenham], Micah Richards [24, Man City], Neil Taylor [23, Swansea], James Tomkins [23, West Ham]

Midfielders: Joe Allen [22, Swansea], Tom Cleverley [22, Man United], Jack Cork [23, Southampton], Ryan Giggs [38, Man United], Aaron Ramsey [21, Arsenal], Scott Sinclair [23, Swansea]

Forwards: Craig Bellamy [32, Liverpool], Marvin Sordell [21, Bolton], Daniel Sturridge [22, Chelsea]

Poor squad, lots of average players in there. He must be really against taking 18/19/20 year olds cos there are some good ones that have been totally over-looked.

The women's 800 is a joke and I'm at a loss as to why the 400m hurdlers aren't in the relay squad when the men's are (and Shakes Drayton has run loads of relays over the last couple of years), but otherwise that looks like a pretty strong team.

Obviously there's a list of obvious medal contenders but outside of those I'm looking forward to seeing:

Men's 4x100 (provided they can get the baton round twice they'll be in the mix, 4th in the world this year)

Men's 4x400 (a team of Levine-Williams-Greene-Rooney is shit hot and a definite contender for silver)

Women's 1500 (the last two Worlds silver medallists, although questions over their fitness)

Brazil's football Olympic squad is unreal. Thiago Silva, Marcelo, Hulk, Neymar, Pato, Sandro etc.. all involved. They have to be the clear favourites with Uruguay and Spain just behind

and GB play them in a friendly soon. That could get ugly especially with Stuart Pearce in charge

Charles Van Commenee is a right knob head.

Why leave Jenny meadows and Maralyn Okoro out? Perri should be in the relay. He's really messed it up. If 3 people have the times, just put them into the sodding discipline.

Wow Paula Radcliffe she hasnt ran in a age. I hope she does well.

I think the best gold hopes on the track are:

Jessica Ennis Heptathlon she isnt guaranteed gold but she is the hot favourite but she will definetely medal.

Philip Idowu: Again v v v good chance of gold but should medal.

Robbie Grabarz: World leading jump.

Have a chance in the female long jump 2.

I can see the footie team doing well 2 Iam personally glad Beckham wasnt picked it would only take away from the team element of the squad with the media turning it into the Beckham show.
