Being more than a quarter into the year I was wondering what were people's top 5 indie artists/bands to look out for the rest of the year?

Do you mean newcomers?

If not just them, I'm looking forward to the Beach House album.

Orbital's Wonky has been a pleasant surprise.

I think new indie acts are not very interesting at the moment.. maybe it's just me getting old.

Although I'm glad that Of Monsters and Men + Alabama Shakes have made a commercial breakthrough.

I'd hardly call Orbital indie, no matter how good Wonky is - and it is, best thing they've done in years.

My favourite records so far this year:

Lower Dens - Nootropics

Errors - Have Some Faith in Magic

Frankie Rose - Interstellar

Snowgoose - Harmony Springs

There are some great sounds coming out of the USA and my native Scotland right now. It's a fairly exciting time.

There just has not been enough love for Frankie Rose here. God I need to get starting more threads here!

I only discovered Frankie yesterday from a blog I follow, I've been streaming her album from Soundcloud ever since.

Wish some more folk would give Lower Dens a listen. I really rate them but nobody else on here does.

You have to scratch way below the surface now Michael. I've found the best bet is to find a handful of blogs that talk about the kind of music you like and subscribe to them. I've been discovering loads of great shoegaze / jangly / droney / loopy acts this way.

I don't really consider any of the acts posted on here as indie - they're pretty much all mainstream. Anything indie that does get posted here seems to fall off the first page very quickly while people talk about Lana Del Ray.

Their new song and video are amazing. Looking forward to the album.

I think you'll find that this Michael is a pretty much non-existent spam-bot or something.

And there are TWO bots in one thread, see "Orbital's Wonky has been a pleasant surprise. " Both of the posts are edited too. David007 and Michael2001.

Weird times, weird bots.

*I wish some bot would copy the above sentence too*

I'm listening to Orbital when it comes on shuffle to me, two or three songs stand out, apart from the singles.

Orbital's Wonky has been a pleasant surprise.

ACTRESS - RIP

DEAN BLUNT AND INGA COPELAND - BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL

KATIE CRUEL - 1966

LUCKY DRAGONS - EXISTERS

How many times have we heard there'll be a new MBV album in any given year? Nice re-issues set though.
