I think a choice of a single is a joint descision between the label and the artist, but I'm not 100% sure... :unsure:

When it came time to choose the follow-up to her smash singles "S.O.S." and "Unfaithful," Rihanna turned not to management or record-label professionals for guidance, but to her computer.

"Out of all my songs [available for sale] on iTunes, that's the third most downloaded, behind 'S.O.S' and 'Unfaithful,' " the Barbados-born beauty said of A Girl Like Me's "We Ride." "It's having good feedback, so I'm gonna give [fans] what they want."

 

Fortunately, "We Ride" also happens to be one of Rihanna's favorites and, in her words, "a big summer song."

 

" 'We Ride' is about this guy saying over and over again, 'When we ride, we ride, we're gonna be together until the day that we die' — promising all these things," Rihanna explained. "And then it turns out he broke all of his promises, which is sad — but it's summer and I don't care if you wanna do that and be ugly and unfaithful, then I can just do my thing, chill with my girls and have fun.

 

"That's what summers are all about," she continued. "And every summer you remember a certain relationship and there's always a song to connect to that. So 'We Ride' is just one of those songs."

On the surface the song seems like a stick-with-you anthem, but it's really about past promises and memories of a fading relationship. I over listened to it when I first bought the album, but I agree, it's a great song :D

Kisses Dont Lie is even more summery, bad choice in my opinion :(

We Ride has grown on me, it will be top 15 in the US and UK. I hope that she releases break it off or final goodbye :wub:

I dont think its near as good as SOS or unfaithful but thats cool they gave it a good review ^_^
