Does anyone remember this song? :wub: It was just awesome, should have won ESC 99 imo finished fourth I think. I downloaded it a bit ago and just LOVE IT!!!

She couldn't have won, though - since she used a recorded choir, which isn't allowed, since only six background singers are allowed... If she had got the most votes, the song in 2nd place would have won...

Actually, coming to think of it Croatia always have good songs. 1998 - Danijela :wub: 1999 - Doris, 2000 - a man with long hair, good song but can't remember the name, 2001 - Strings Of My Heart another good song, 2002 - Everything I Want good song, 2003 - a girl with a multi coloured dress which was a great song, 2004 - You Are The Only One sung by Goran someone nice song, 2005 - Boris someone loved that song one of my faves from last year! And now this year, My Stillettos, one of my faves yet again!

Doris was very good, one of my 3-4 favs that year but my favorite, by a mile, was the winner. Charlotte

Nilsson's Take Me To Your Heaven was brill. And Selma's track was the second best so overall Croatia did

finish pretty much where it should have IMO.

Selma's was the best and Precious was second best imo-I've never even heard the Doris track...

Croatia is my fave country on ESC & I do remember that song and YES it should have been #1 in 1999 !!!!

I can set up a YSI for you if you like. They had good songs in 1998 and 1999. Which one would you like? 1998's was by Danijela called Navek Mi Ne Svane (a slowish ballad) and 1999's was Doris, a bit like Dana International.

Hello all...I've just noticed this thread and I can't believe how many of you think we have good songs :o ^_^

I always discuss the songs with my friends but to see the opinions of people all across the world.... wow!

I loved Doris's song! I was only 11 then... :lol: I like her voice, just not the songs and lyrics she sings today :rolleyes:

Claudia (2003 I think..the girl in the orange dress- " Više nisam tvoja" ) I think that was quite a hit here especially because she was in a band with her brother and friends, so that's how we all got to know her...

Then there's Goran Karan, Vesna Pisarović, Boris Novković... I love Boris the most! He has some very good songs...

Severina (or as we all call her- Seve), she was the worst so far imo!!! :puke2: The song is terrible, makes no sense at all and we all supposed she'd win cause she's a hit here... :rolleyes:

Turbo folk is not my cup of tea :puke2:

My all time favourite is definetly by Riva: Rock me baby

The song is brilliant imo! songs were so much better then...

oh sorry...and Vanna with the Strings Of My Heart- that was a great song! Sounds much better in Croatian... They lose the feeling when translated but it was good in English too ^_^

She's my favourite Croatian singer, her lyrics are beautiful and she has a very beautiful powerful voice. Extremely talented

I quite liked Seve's song last year and I can't agree it's turbo folk :lol: have u read somewhere they put the song in World Music ganre!!!

but yeah cuz she's a hit in the balkans that doesn't translate into success on ESC :( she's a living proof 4 that!!!the same happend withe Tose Proeski back in 2004 with Macedonia :(

Well Seve's song is the only one I can't stand!!! Her songs at the beginning of the career were so much better. World music genre.... :rolleyes: I'm not so sure about that :rofl: But yes, I agree with you, a hit over here doesn't mean a hit in Europe. ^_^

I wonder what our song will be like this year.

I'd like Jelena Radan to perform. She really has talent and her songs are all great imo. She's been performing with Meritas... Maybe all 3 girls go together :cheer:

well I don't know the artist u mentioned, but like most of the croatian that are played on MTV Adria but I guess they'll never gonna try 4 ESC :lol:

btw: Toše Proeski was (and I think he still is... ) a hit in Croatia, ever since Srce nije kamen ^_^ and our soap opera- Zabranjena ljubav ( :puke2: btw :lol: )

 

 

Croatia 99 had some ponts taken for using pre-recorded vocals in its performance (all vocals must be live). It didn't change its placing though.
