It's terrible, just like Hughes did at City, loads of money which he just splashed at anyone who was available and then they were paying silly wages to players they don't want that no one else can afford. QPRs wage bill could be in the top 6 in the PL if they sign Dawson and Carvalho!

Are you over 30? Are you out of favour at your current club? Can you command a weekly wage of at least £50k a week? Then QPR is the club for YOU!

The Dawson deal id just ridiculous. £7.5m for a player who played 4 games last season and has a history of serious injuries. They must be splashing out some serious wages, unreal for a club of their size. They can't be too far away from some of bigger clubs on wages now.

As a Forest fan I'm a massive fan of Dawson but he's pretty injury prone these days. When they signed Barton, Onouha, Zamora, Cisse and SWP they were all on between £50k and £80k. They've since added Bosingwa, Nelson, Johnson, Green, Park and Diakite. Granted not much was spent on transfer fees but they will all have been on big wages at previous clubs and as there was no or little transfer fee involved will have been able to command higher signing fees and wages. Green rejected the same terms at West Ham saying he wanted a massive pay rise, they paid it quite happily. Same for Hoilett, massive talent that a lot of clubs were interested in yet many couldn't meet his demands. Dawson and Carvalho is probably just a reaction to Saturday's thrashing, I'd love them to fail.

They're epitomising everything I hate about football whereas Pardew and Carr at Newcastle are doing exactly what I love to see. Proper scouting, value for money, low wages. QPRs wage bill will now easily be higher than Newcastle's, and Everton's. It'll be on par with that of Spurs, that's 6th. Utterly ridiculous!

No transfer fees, but massive signing-on fees. QPR at the moment is like a madder version of Liverpool last year. We were handing out large contracts for average/older players, then when you want to shift them on you can't as no-one can pay their wages! It's like Manchester City giving Adebayor £175k a week - nobody else in this world is going to want to pay that much more per week for him!

Spurs are drastically slashing their wage bill though aren't they? They've lost half their squad this summer, and is sure to be even worse once Modric inevitably leaves! Granted they've signed Adebayor but still! I like the Newcastle model too, but they've been quite lucky and a few of their signings haven't really worked out. They took the gamble on Ba, and it worked out. I still don't know t this day how they got Cabaye for so cheap with no bigger clubs coming in for him!

Fee agreed for Fletcher, yay.

Also, I think I tipped Hughes to be the first manager sacked this season.

Sahin to Liverpool back on :D

Moses going to Chelsea, big rumours that Sturridge could be on his way out!

Sahin to Liverpool back on :D

This needs to happen. Especially if it means we can finally get rid of Spearing and hopefully Adam

Oh and after just two games I officially love Joe Allen

Paperwork all sorted for the Sahin deal. Exciting signing!

Very impressed with Joe Allen. Never really watched Swansea so much, but he's co comfortable receiving the ball under pressure. Definitely the most important signing Liverpool will make this summer!

I've seen that Liverpool are paying a huge loan fee for Sahin with no future option, seems a bit bizarre really. Real seemed quite happy to let him go to Arsenal with the option of signing next summer for a total less than £10m. If he impresses, which is certainly has the quality to, any fee next summer is surely likely to increase somewhat.

£5m, then see what happens next summer. I'd imagine if we got in to the Champions League we might be in a position to sign him. I see this more as a long-term thing. Liverpool's scouting system has been overhauled. It gives them time to find 1/2 central mid fielders that can play the 4-3-3 we play, as neither Spearing or Adam can play it.

Transfer merry-go-round at the moment.

Modric going through to Madrid will happen when Sahin goes to Liverpool.

Man City will sign Sinclair now Adam Johnson has gone to Sunderland.

Buzzing about Johnson, never in a million years thought it would happen. Brilliant business by the club, and a real statement of intent from O'Neill. Also very pleased to finally have Fletcher wrapped up after the most excruciating transfer saga of the summer.

A couple more players and we'll be set for a real top half challenge.

Where are these sums for Sahin even coming from ?

The majority seems to be from Arsenal fans on twitter, who are mainly trying to justify their decision to not bring him on. How exactly would they know the ins and outs of a deal completed by Liverpool?

It's quite hilarious to see them become accountants. "Oh haha Liverpool overspending". We're short on cash as it is and have to "sell to buy", so I really doubt we'd be paying as much as being mentioned. More likely that Arsenal wanted an option to buy added to the contract, which Real Madrid refused to include

and even if the amounts mentioned are true (which I doubt).. Who cares anyway? I want to see my team successful on the pitch and not continuously counting their pennies. Seems like some of the fans have been spending too much time listening to Wenger. It's all "Oh look at how much money we made on a 29 year old" when in reality selling that 29 year old now transforms them from title challengers to top 3/4 challengers

Oh and it's now official http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-new...gree-sahin-deal Medical left to be completed

I've seen it loads in various media today. If its true it's an absolutely ridiculous deal and shows they haven't really learned much. £5m for the loan + paying his contract in full which is at least as much again. £10m for one player for one season. If he's poor it'll be seen as another waste of money, if he's successful what will happen then? The fee Madrid would accept is likely to rise hugely from what is a low fee they would've been willing to accept now, a sum Liverpool might not be able to afford and then you've got to replace a key player you've got nothing to replace him with. At least Wenger gets top fees. It's a bizarre situation where a big club takes someone on loan when that player will be a key player and there's no option to buy written into the loan. It's usually either one or the other, where loans are just to boost squad numbers, a short term filling of a gap like Benayoun to Arsenal or Adebayor to Madrid.

There's absolutely no doubt that Real Madrid prefer this move over what Arsenal wanted and were willing to accept given how much money they can make and save out of it, and it also makes a hell of a lot of sense that someone like Wenger would pull out of a deal if he had to pay what Liverpool reportedly are.

With every big loan there's a fee though, so I see how this is no different. There is no option to buy, but that doesn't mean to say that we won't put in an offer next season. Like I said earlier this is a massive coop for us. A top class quality player for £5m for the season, I'm certainly not complaining. This is purely a stop-gap, it gives the new scouting team time to find a midfielder that Brendan Rodgers wants next summer to fill the void. Otherwise we're really thin on central midfield options. There's been so many twists and turns with this. We're not paying his contract full either, I think it's 60%, with Real paying the other 40%. There's no way we're being as stupid as we were last summer. We've saved massive wages with 4 of the biggest earners going. Liverpool's squad is paper-thin, a few more loan signings wouldn't go amiss! Arsenal's massive loss imo. Got to hope they can get Wilshere fit or else they'll really struggle in CM / get mugged off in the transfer market!

Anyway The Times are reporting now Arsenal refused the deal because of an agreement for £14m (after the £5m inital fee) at the end of the loan. Wanted him cheaper.
I'm not saying it's a bad deal per se, I just think Liverpool have overpaid to get him compared to what Madrid were close to agreeing with Arsenal, reported £2m loan fee, £8m future fee, it's easy to see why Madrid changed the terms and Arsenal pulled out of the deal when they agreed what they did with Liverpool. It looked like Arsenal were close to securing a typically brilliant Wenger bargain, but however you look at it the Liverpool deal is a hell of a lot better for Madrid, though not necessarily a bad one for Liverpool.

I'm not sure how close that deal was ever anywhere near being done. For that price they would have taken Madrid to the cleaners, and that doesn't usually happen with the top two clubs in La Liga. It's a good deal for Madrid, but also for Liverpool imo. If he can recapture his form pre-injuries even to 80% of what he was Liverpool have a hell of a player on their hands. I don't know what Arsenal are going to do now, granted Wilshere will be back soon but they still need another midfielder to fill the void Song left,

I do not understand QPR. Why have they signed Robert Green and now Julio Cesar?

Their transfer policy is horrendous. Reckon they're going all out to survive this year in the hope of the big TV money next year.
