May 22, 201213 yr Add Norway into it, I want Tooji in a good slot too :D yeah he would benifit from a good slot too :D
May 22, 201213 yr I think it stopped Eric from winning (at least the televote) last year. It was between him and Slovenia for 7th and 21st, and Slovenia got the latter. I don't think being in the middle of a big pop section helped him all that much - and I don't think it's a coincidence that all the winners since 2005 have come from the last ten slots. And even though Ruslana won in 2004 performing 10th, that was mostly due to it being a poor year! (Sweden aside obvs)
May 22, 201213 yr The idea that Loreen should win by ANYTHING LESS than a COMPLETE LANDSLIDE is UNACCEPTABLE!
May 22, 201213 yr No i agree she deserves a big win, but as someone said previously, when Alexander won with a landslide it was a pretty boring results show..

All that said, whilst it does play a big part, landslide winners like Lordi and Alexander you feel could have won with ease even from the 2nd slot. I do agree that it stopped Eric winning the televote but he still would have been too far adrift to win overall, the draw probably ultimately cost him second place though. Certainly in a really close final the draw/contrasts will make all the difference but if there's an obvious winner (which I still believe there is this year, in the shape of Loreen), then I don't think it has much effect on their final placing, perhaps only their final score. And then of course there are songs that are performed in the final 5 songs and go absolutely nowhere (Soraya, Waldo's People, Lucia Perez...), so you do need a great song with universal appeal to take advantage of a decent draw. I do think that many Eurovision fans do tend to over analyse it, to the point that a half decent song with a fantastic draw is suddenly 'in contention for the win', which just isn't true at all. It may be in contention for a few more points but it doesn't suddenly transform from a mid-table no hoper to a winner just because it's being performed half an hour later than it might have been.
May 22, 201213 yr I don't NEED the stress of worrying that Loreen's about to be derailed by a BEVY OF RUSSIAN WHORES THANKS

I reckon going on near the end would've probably added 50 or so votes to his televote. That would've made him a resounding winner in the televote and I reckon would've made for a far closer finish. Not necessarily a win but I don't think it would've been out of the question.
May 22, 201213 yr Didn't Alexander Rybak perform 6th on the night of Eurovision? 20th. He performed 6th in the semis.
May 22, 201213 yr Author My prediction before the show! 02 Iceland 03 Greece 05 Albania 06 Romania 09 Finland 12 Cyprus 13 Denmark 14 Russia 17 Moldova 18 Ireland Oh, so close! Should have put Hungary instead of Finland... I was too inlove with it too see it fail :drama: Damn that I got problems with internet again... Hopefully it will be working on Thursday, it keeps going offline all the time :( At least 7 out of my 10 favorites qualified! :cheer: The hosts were terrible and the postcards were a bit too much Azerbaijan, but LOVED Crystal Hall and how it changed to the colors of the flags  amazing! Semi Final 1 was much better than in Germany where everything went wrong last year.

It's only boring if you don't want the song in question to win. That said, if Loreen does landslide it then I guess I might be the only person in the room (if anyone else is still watching) jumping about every time she gets 12 points
May 22, 201213 yr Author WHAT? I can't recall that the 2009 results show were boring at all :kink: Pretty much the best results I've ever seen :D

Its inevitable that she will win and she deserves it .. but theres something mystic about them Russian Grannies, witchcraft could be part of their game i reckon , so i might get the 2 horse race im after lol

May 22, 201213 yr I much prefer a close battle. From what i remember reading 2 years ago they done a thing with the voting where by they break it up and put the countries in a certain order so it will look like a close race for as long as possible and then the winner starts to take pace around mid voting. That seemed evident last year and the year before as Germany and Azerbaijan weren't in the top 3/5 for a good few of the first set of votes. Last year as Azerbaijan started to take off so did Italy(although a bit later for Italy).Ireland last year were the same, slow start and then there was about where they moved into the top 3 and they trailed off as Italy and Azerbaijan took over from Sweden. So in my own little head who ever gets the first 1 or 2 12 points of the night wont be the winners so in a way im hoping Sweden gets the first 1 or 2 12 points of the night.
May 23, 201213 yr Just finished watching! I thought it was a rather good semi. Greece and Cyprus coming through towards the end was awful. I was terrified for Eleftheria especially. On the other hand, boo at Finland and Moldova flopping. On that note, Moldova guy was rather HOT. Stage was good but the screens annoyed me, I much preferred the one big screen they had last year. Taken By A Stranger would be a disastuh this year. San Marino though :( EDIT: Also Love Will Set You Free sounds absolutely horrendous. Edited May 23, 201213 yr by Umi
May 23, 201213 yr What? *Re-watches* EDIT: Well thank goodness for that! Edited May 23, 201213 yr by Umi
