Thread Splitting

Afternoon! ^_^

Recently, me and the other moderators have noticed that the threads in the Pop Forum (not just here, but it's particularly noticeable in this area) have been getting increasingly large and unwieldy with only one thread for each artist containing information and discussion about their entire era. It has been the done thing around here for years it seems.

Now if you are following the thread from the beginning it may appear fine, but it is going to be incredibly daunting for newcomers coming in with a topic already on 40+ pages and not knowing where to start with the variety of different topics ranging from tours to new singles, video diaries and album rates, especially if the first post in the topic is half a year old or more.

So, from this point forward, what we would like you to do is start NEW topics for singles (maybe with accompanying poll :D), NEW topics for tours, etc, if the artist has a large following on Buzzjack.

Small artists who aren't going to get beyond 5 or so pages anyway throughout their entire era, to use examples from the current front page, Cover Drive, Molly Sandén and Aiden Grimshaw will probably not need extra topics at this point, but the likes of Jessie J, Kelly Clarkson, Alexandra Burke and Jennifer Lopez certainly will. At the moment, 15 pages is perfectly manageable, once it starts to get beyond that, extra topics will probably be needed.

The current large topics should still continue to be used for general discussion of the artist, but the point of this is to start phasing these monsters out so we give the appearance of a more active forum by having a higher thread turnover in the near future. As the majority of these artists are coming towards the end of their eras, this shouldn't be a huge problem right now, we can just gently let the threads die a natural death. The tour threads split from Jessie J and J Lo earlier today are an example of how things can be done.

Any questions, do ask, there are a lot of grey areas with which artists need extra threads and which don't. As a general rule of thumb though, if you think a new topic of discussion could use a new thread then by all means go for it.
