What game were you watching?

The clue is when most of Wigan's chances were on the break and most of City's were after minutes of build-up.

Wigan completely dominated the game and were unlucky not to get a penalty. Fantastic performance and might give them enough hope to survive in the premiership, a point against Arsenal is a must!
I wouldn't call it dominating with less possession and shots on target, they dominated in the way that Chelsea did last year - they won.

less shots on target, but their chances were better chances, they should have had at least a penalty!

Just finished watching the Watford game, what is it with teams missing a last minute penalty, followed by the other team scoring? So tense.

Wigan played a lot deeper than normal, but it was tactics. And it worked really well. They were actually very disciplined for once, and it worked really really well.

I wanted City to win because I find Wigan tinpot, as shown by the fact they're the only club to have won both the FA Trophy and the FA Cup :D I think they will go down though. Man City need 3/4 players in the summer. Mancini looked a dead man walking. The preparations can't have been helped by all the rumours going ground.

I do hope the Wigan might bring a bit of magic back to the cup. I can't remember a big of upset as that for a long, long time. 5.45 kick-off needs to be abandoned mind.

Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Wayne Rooney handed in a transfer request but the club rejected it which is why he didn't play today.

Also rumours that Phil Jones and Wayne Rooney had a few handbags yesterday as well.

He'll be gone in the summer no doubt about that, he's made his bed now.

It'll be interesting to see where he ends up. Other than Ronaldo, right now I can't think of a high profile player whose left United and had greater success elsewhere.

The closest I can think of are Hughes, Tevez, Beckham and Van Nistlerooy but I wouldn't say they had more success long term

He'll end up at Chelsea. I can't see him being this unhappy and wanting a move if something already wasn't set in motion.

Gerard Pique

Gerard Pique

I completely forgot he even played for Man U

Newcastle and Norwich are safe for another season thanks to Wigan playing Aston Villa on the last day. For the same reason Fulham and Southampton are virtually safe due to their better goal differences.

Basically it's a three way battle between Wigan, Aston Villa and Sunderland.

wish wayne rooney wasn't a footballer. he's by far one of the most over-rated footballers ever, already getting paid too much. seen better strikers in the championship with miles less hype. his attitude of no respect is shockingly bad as well. He didn't even want to celebrate fergies last game, as far as im concerned don't offer him a better deal, he's not worth it. :nono:

Not sure about overrated. He's not as good as the media make him out to be, and his own White Pele tag that's for sure. But his attitude for a footballer probably in the second bracket of the world's best players is terrible. His goal return and assists this season is excellent. I think Fergie put it right when he said an in-form Wayne Rooney wouldn't be dropped/substituted. He's been nowhere near the heights he can reach.

Gerard Pique

Of course! I knew there must be another one somewhere.

Paul Pogba looks like he's certainly going to be on that slipped through the net. Pique was more understandable given they had Vidic and Ferdinand + a very capable youngster in Evans already there, but Pogba had much less quality competition and has been excellent for Juventus and France when he's played. Think he'll regret that one.

I would have thought they would wait until the end of the season.

Real Madrid wanted Pelligirini too. Reckon they'll probably for the Benitez once Mourinho goes, unless Newcastle offer Rafa the job. Guess they'll put David Pleat or someone else in charge for the final game.

Benitez announced in a interview today that he wanted to remain in England and manage. I doubt Newcastle would sack Padrew, he's still got 5-6 years left on his contract, it would be a crazy amount of compensation that would be needed to pay out if Newcastle wanted Rafa.

There's a clause in Pardew's contract that says they don't have to pay full compensation if they terminate early I believe.

City are fools. Pellegrini is an excellent coach but will he do any better than Mancini on the same budget? I doubt it.
