Well yes, but you can hardly expect him not to comment on such a ridiculous dive.

Does it matter? What's worse a dive or thug like behaviour? How come Suarez was on all the back pages and nor Huth/Van Persie was. The witch hunt against him is ridiculous. You'd never see Gareth Bale or Ashley Young on the back pages for diving. The Huth stamp barely even gets a mention in the papers. It's no wonder he turns to diving when no referee will give any foul or even an assault against him.

Since when were managers unbiased? It was Pulis' prerogative to mention the dive in the same way it was Rodgers' to mention the stamp.

And although those players may not get the media attention, referees will know exactly who they are.

Suarez should've taken up the back pages just to remind everyone that yes, he really is that stupid. There are times when it's easy to feel for him, then he goes and does that. What kind of utter moron is he?! You'd think someone who's not getting penalties for a reputation of diving would go a long period without doing anything to make that reputation come back? But no, instead he does the most ridiculous dive which will only set his reputation back even further. If I was manager he'd have been fined the maximum amount club regulations would allow. There are some really stupid footballers about, and Luis Suarez is definitely one of them.

I'm not saying he's not stupid, but the treatment of him is terrible. I see the Gareth Bale dive with was just as awful barely gets a mention. The past 3/4 weeks he's got nothing, he might as well dive cos the referees all think he's doing it already apparently. The media coverage given to the stamp and the elbow is ridiculous, yet Cole gets a fine for posting a tweet.

It's quite clear that everything Suarez does is magnified 100x. I'm almost certain that if Suarez was the one that had stamped on Huth, he'd now be serving a retrospective ban or he'd have been sent off at the time

But what annoys me more is talk of "Oh he's only got himself to blame" in regards to not getting penalties. Since when is that a valid excuse for a referee to make a poor decision?

and this retrospective ban rule needs to be looked at. The FA might as well say "As long as the referee in charge doesn't do his job properly, the player won't be punished". Surely a player should still be punished regardless of whether the referee saw it or not?

I don't really blame Pulis as he was clearly working the media. His comments were hypocritical and quite laughable considering the way his team played, but he was aware they'd just been awarded 6 yellow cards with some being potential reds and are due to receive a fine. Instead he was clever in deflecting the attention onto Suarez. It's up to the media to look into the match rather than create lazy diving headlines or the referee in charge to take control of the game

No one here is saying that he doesn't deserve a penalty when he's fouled, more that he's not helping himself when he does something as idiotic as that dive on Sunday.

If a player is regularly trying to con referees into giving fouls which aren't, it's only natural that refs will become to be more cautious in giving fouls on them, either way there's a good chance they're going to be criticised the next day, failed to give a 'clear' penalty or they've been conned again.... If someone is not getting penalties and free-kicks because of their reputation then it's ENTIRELY that players fault for building up that reputation. If you don't want it, don't do it. Stop. Behave. It'll soon change. Two weeks he did it before he did that, utter moron. Will only make it worse, and there's only one person to blame.

Players and refs need to trust each other, players that they'll get a penalty if they're fouled, refs that the players are being honest with them. If you were a ref, would you trust Luis Suarez? I know I wouldn't. The treatment he gets in comparison to others is unfair but it's still all his own fault. If he didn't do it, he couldn't receive that treatment.

Delighted Chelsea are slaying the Premier League so far, it seems as if they were written off at the start of the season by everyone (maybe even including myself) but Oscar & Hazard have proved to be FANTASTIC signings!

Long season yet. Chelsea often do this, and have a bad period around November/December time.

It was only two years ago Chelsea started the league with a record of played 10, won 8, drawn 1, lost 1, scored 27, conceded 3. They strengthened the squad by over £70m in January but still finished 9 points off the top of the league.

Mainly because they completely collapsed in the two months prior. I'm assuming they made up a fair amount of ground from the end of January onwards, plus I seem to remember United going on their usual obscene Spring run of form.

If Mancini can sort his tactics out it's City's to lose, otherwise Chelsea could be in. Arsenal aren't out of it and you can never discount United.

The big problem Chelsea have, is what happens if Torres goes off form again? And teams are going to find out how to stop Hazard soon enough, is only a matter of time. They've had the easiest start out of all the big teams thus far. They look better than I thought they would, but I'm still not sure about di Matteo. Not sure he has a plan B or C.

I think you're probably right but Hazard can play as a forward as well - that would kill two birds with one stone in that defenders would be less used to dealing with him in that position and it would make their Number 10 role a bit less congested.

It will be interesting to see how Chelsea cope when they hit a tougher period, Mata, Oscar and Hazard have been in superb form so far but that won't last forever, and it's obvious that Sturridge isn't rated. Anyway, we shall soon see. Their next 10 games see two key games against Shakhtar and a trip to Juventus in the Champions League, Man Utd in the League Cup and Tottenham, Man Utd, Swansea, Liverpool, West Brom and Man City in the league. That's tough and will stretch them.

I think chelsea could do quite well this year. man city havent looked as good as last season, man u seem to be off form too. idk but i have a good feeling about them.

all excitement is whether barnet can stay in the football league though :winner:

Man City will still win the league imo, and Manchester United always hit form at some point. Both will have bad spells, it's inevitable, but so will Chelsea.

And as for the latter then I seriously doubt it. They're terrible, there's already a gap developing and we're only in October.

Biggest match of the season if you're a Sunderland fan, which I am! Anyone got a prediction for the North-East England derby on Sunday?

Really hoping Fletcher can sneak a winner - and that Pardew gets sent to the stands.
