Posted June 13, 201213 yr Does anyone know? Rebecca Ferguson was top 15 all week long and managed a 23 debut on the BB200. There have been times when Adele was 6 or 7 on iTunes but she was #1 on the BB100. So in a nutshell, how much of %age does iTunes contriubte to BB 200? Who are the other major sellers? I'd presume Target, Walmart and Best Buy (for physical CDs) and Amazon for MP3s?

US Album sales in 2011: 31% sold through digital services (iTunes, Amazon, etc)31% sold at mass merchant outlets (WalMart, Target, etc)20% sold at retail chain outlets7% sold at independent music storeshttp://www.businesswire.com/news/home/2012...Industry-Report Depending on what you read, iTunes has anywhere from two-thirds to three-quarters of the download market. Extrapolating from that, I'd say iTunes accounts for less than 25% of the albums market.
June 13, 201213 yr Author Thanks Britster! That helps. So that's really not a lot then... I was thinking digital services would be more than 31%. This could actually be a hinderance for new artists like Ed Sheeran, etc. as shops like Best Buy and Walmart may not stock as many CDs of Ed as they would of, say, Usher because they don't know if people will buy Ed's album or not.
