Posted March 22, 200619 yr Ne-Yo To Make His Acting Debut By: Coryn Brown March 20, 2006 If you tally up the time it took Ne-Yo to occupy the number one slot on the Billboard’s Top 100 chart with his debut LP, In My Own Words, there’s no need to wonder how fast it’ll be before he takes over your sacramental buttered popcorn Hollywood devotional time. He’s already in position. Screen Gems, the Sony label responsible for thespian-izing B2K in You Got Served, in the same spirit takes Ne-Yo into Stompin’, the chart topper’s first feature film. Stompin’ documents the pilgrimage of a 19-year-old street kid, played by Columbus Short, who moves from a crime affected LA ‘hood to enroll in one of Atlanta’s top, black universities. There, the two leading campus fraternities vie to enlist Short, whose dance moves they are convinced can lead to a win at the national step-show competition. Ne-Yo stars as the college roommate of Short, who can also be seen in Steppin’ Up: Save The Last Dance 2. Shooting for Stompin’ begins this month in Atlanta.
