I believe that The OCC are going to do more than just announce

the 123, (so far), UK Million Sellers. There is more to it than that.

It is probably going to be in November, that they reveal them

all - hopefully with Sales. By then there could be more than 123.

Here is the reason for the delay - a Book. I knew that Mini

Essays - about each Million Seller - were being worked on. On

that basis, I've just been to Amazon, & put Million Sellers into

their Book Department Search Engine - and this came up.

It is called The Million Sellers, & it is out in November

- after being delayed from October. It only mentions

113 Million Sellers, in the Amazon description of it.

Hopefully all 123, (& more?), will be in the Book,

when it is published:,

Cool! Who's publishing? Is it Virgin? Wish they'd update their chart books my album one is getting out of date and could do with a few more categories of info next time. If written in advance it may already be finalized for publishing and already be (technically) out of date. Wonder if it'll even have "official" sales

Spicefunk - Yes, The OCC commissioned the people to do the Book,

so they, (OCC), have given the Guys their Sales Data.

Why do I envisage this will raise more questions than answers, ? :D

Lol agreed!

That's good news, but will they include the ones that have been announced recently, for instance Matt Cardle was the last act to be announced as a million seller, and any that might pop up between now and October.

Plus it says in the book description 113 million sellers, obviously there is 123, could the 1 be a typo.

I will look forward to reading about Blue Monday, Ride on Time and Somebody that I Used to Know (should the latter be included). At that stage Poker Face may have passed 1million sales also.

Poker Face passed a million quite a while ago. Do you mean Bad Romance?

I do. Thanks.

I think it may already be written and 113 is all we'll get. Shame because so many have finally passed in the last year or so. HAppy to be proved wrong though!
So I'm guessing well get a sales update ten? :) Would be nice to see where ...Baby One More Time is at now :)

Well if it is only up to the 113th million seller then the book will be pretty out of date by the time it comes out surely? Thats the problem with doing bon things like this and why we hardly get any now, the data is old before its even published as apposed to the internet.

I wonder how they will detail the figures to the nearest unit e.g 1,000,022. Or round it up per 5k,10k,etc.

Bit of both depending on the age of the record and the confidence (or otherwise) in it's sales figures I should think Zero.

I would like to see the split between physical sales and downloads for each million seller, plus maybe a download only top sellers list.

£9, not bad. I might get this then! :D I see that in the description, it says Bill Haley & The Comets' Rock Around the Clock is the first *recorded* million seller.

I'll wait until others here review it.

Reading this thread made me dig through my old books, and I found one from 2002 called 'Top 100 Singles', published for the 50th anniversary of the NME, and detailing the best-selling 100 singles in the UK.

There were 76 million sellers, although judging by some discussions on this subject there may have been some innaccuracies.
