Posted June 24, 201213 yr This is what this year's Eurovision would have looked like if the results had been based on the average scores from 2002-2011 (final only). Basically I've looked at who gave what to who over those years and calculated it that way, so it may not be totally correct. But I reckon it won't be far off. Obviously it is a bit biased towards countries that have been in longer than others. 01 | 231 - Greece 02 | 212 - Ukraine 03 | 198 - Russia 04 | 185 - Turkey 05 | 161 - Serbia 06 | 154 - Bosnia & Herzegovina 07 | 150 - Sweden 08 | 148 - Norway 09 | 139 - Romania 10 | 118 - Azerbaijan 11 | 097 - Germany 12 | 090 - Denmark 13 | 066 - United Kingdom 14 | 060 - Moldova 15 | 056 - Spain 16 | 053 - Iceland 17 | 052 - France 18 | 048 - F.Y.R. Macedonia 19 | 048 - Malta 20 | 047 - Albania 21 | 033 - Estonia 22 | 026 - Lithuania 23 | 020 - Cyprus 24 | 017 - Ireland 25 | 015 - Hungary 26 | 012 - Italy
June 24, 201213 yr Wouldn't it have made more sense to just say that this is 'average scores between 2002 and 2011' rather than what the table would've looked like had it been based on that, given it makes no sense at all as a scoring system? No real surprises anyway. In the case of Italy et al, wouldn't it perhaps be better to just average their scores so far rather than counting them as '0' for all the years they didn't take part?

Yes it would have made more sense but someone has already made an infographic with it and all I would have done was provide a link. Anyway, this gave me something to do today, as the weather here has been atrocious and I haven't been able to do anything I wanted to  I wouldn't say it makes no sense at all though, for example Spain have given Romania four 12s, three 10s, an 8, a 7 and a 5, that average (compared to other countries that Spain gave points to) was the best, therefore for the above table, Spain have given 12 points to Romania. But yes, having an average would probably have been better. In fact, I actually started it with an average and don't know why I stopped. It would have benefited Italy either way!
