Here is some nice news: we are working with Little,Brown and Will Young on his book, Funny Peculiar, out October http://ow.ly/bPr5e

From The Evening Standard.

WILL Young, winner of 2002 Pop Idol, is marking the decade since his victory with an autobiography. The singer, whose hits include Evergreen and Jealousy, chose speaking over singing last night at Kettner’s in Soho as he read from his book, Funny Peculiar, due out in the autumn. Music impresario Simon Cowell, who bizarrely to this day still resents Young’s victory over Gareth Gates in Pop Idol, features “a tiny bit” in the tome. Young also noted that his relegation to the second row by Burberry at London Fashion Week was the first step to being a “washed-up hasbeen”. “Before you know it,” he said, “there you are, sashaying across the ice in a spangly one-piece, skating for your life on Dancing on Ice”. Gates appeared on the ITV show back in 2008.

From the Independent.

Will Young's autobiography Funny Peculiar, which is due from Little, Brown in October, is going to be really quite good, Between the Covers can exclusively reveal. Young threw a pre-launch party for booksellers at Kettner's in Soho on Wednesday (in the room in which Oscar Wilde was once arrested), and read from the book, which he is actually writing himself – almost uniquely among celebrity memoirists. His chapter "Second Row at Burberry", about friendship, fashion and Anna Wintour, is funny and well-written, and Young is keeping up a rigorous daily 4,000 words in order to meet his copy deadline. The idea for the book came to Young while working on the script for an as-yet-uncommissioned comedy drama, he told The IoS, and kept finding himself writing about his own life. "I've been very candid," he promises.

I hope that pic is on the cover, it's so nice.

Haven't preordered, I couldn't decide whether to get paperback or hardback. :D

Thanks TT for the news about Will's autobiography "Funny Peculiar", great title by the way and this bit made me laugh out loud.

I think I'll get hardback. The cover (and pages) should last longer with my constant reading and turning the pages. Anyway the other ones are hardback.

On 11th October 2012 Sphere will publish Will Young's Funny Peculiar: The Autobiography, and we are now delighted to share with you, his fans and friends, the cover in all its glory. We hope you like it as much as we do!

Warm, emotionally honest and very very funny, we invite you to meet the real Will Young.  Why not pre-order now from all good book retailers to guarantee your copy.

In 2001 Will Young shot to fame as the first winner of Pop Idol. It was clear from the start that he would never be a typical pop star – and more than ten years later he has become one of our best-loved and most intriguing artists.

From his dramatic experiences on Pop Idol; to coming out in the glare of the media spotlight; to his valiant struggles against depression; to the crazy reality of being famous, Will is open about both the highs and lows of his life. He also provides sound and practical advice on dealing with the DVLA helpline – something that has been woefully neglected by all other celebrity memoirs.

If you have ever wondered what it's like to attend a fashion show (and find yourself accidentally waving at Anna Wintour); how it feels to sing in front of thousands while fighting a catastrophic bout of low self-esteem; or be subjected to the terror that is a This Morning 'makeover', then Funny Peculiar reveals all. It also tells you what not to say if you ever meet David Beckham.

Moving, witty and scrupulously honest, Funny Peculiar is a refreshingly different and fascinating autobiography by a true original.

Suggy - looking at the pic in your signature and the pic for the front cover of the book, you'd hardly think they were the same person. How he has grown in stature.
