I think he was thinking well if grace is in, there isnt any chance 4 nikki, because i dont think he knew she was in 4 21 minutes just before she left.

but pete has often gone off for quiet times by himself, wether grace was in there or not... he was in prior to her appearance and would have been even if she didnt appear. it had nowt to do with her.
