December 5, 201212 yr D31 iirc, crap seats but better than not going! Where will you be? I want to say D24, but I'm not too sure as my friend has sorted it for us! Oh the atmosphere will be amazing. All the D seats are quite high up I think, but I don't mind that! Better than being behind the stage or standing I feel!
December 7, 201212 yr First 2013 entry will be chosen tonight (Belarus), can't believe how quickly it's come round!
December 14, 201212 yr Author Now that one I'm more gutted about. :( Not so much this year but they've given us some really great entries recently (and of course they're my namesake).
December 14, 201212 yr Ha! My Eurovision nemesis is out, ba bye Bosnia. :D Still a sad though, less countries is never good for the contest. And they're still to go out at the semi stage so their budget must really be dire.
December 14, 201212 yr Oh no. It was one thing when it was the constant flops not competing but TURKEY?
December 14, 201212 yr It's still popular in a load of countries, I don't think we need to worry yet. Potentially countries will have more reason to stay now as less will go out at the semi stage (assuming they don't knock down the final numbers). Besides, countries like Bosnia will return, I'm sure. They MUST. :hitler:
December 14, 201212 yr Author I doubt they'd knock the final numbers down. Guess it's good news for the Netherlands at least. :D But don't countries have to pay a higher fee to make up for those withdrawing? I could be making that up from somewhere. Though if Eurovision did end, at least we should still have Melodifestivalen!
December 14, 201212 yr Yeah, if the Netherlands fail to qualify now with ANOUK they really are cursed/are certain to withdraw. If they have the right song, it should see them in a good position to reach another final. :D
December 14, 201212 yr Two great countries! Bosnia were consistently AMAZING from 2006 onwards. Turkey were fantastic but could be a bit patchy. Does this mean that Azerbaijan will win again?
December 14, 201212 yr Two great countries! Bosnia were consistently AMAZING from 2006 onwards. Turkey were fantastic but could be a bit patchy. Does this mean that Azerbaijan will win again? If anything it's -12 points from Azerbaijan's score so it's less likely they will win this time.
December 14, 201212 yr If anything it's -12 points from Azerbaijan's score so it's less likely they will win this time. But there's an entire Turkish diaspora that will vote for them. I still maintain that it's the reason why Azerbaijan won in the first place because their song was shit. :D
December 14, 201212 yr GAH, I'm no massive supporter of Turkey or Bosnia-Herzegovina (although the latter are occasionally GREAT) but why must they all pull out the year I finally decide to go! :drama: Oh well, I guess it gives the UK a better chance of winning  And WTF at Turkey's reason for withdrawing, smacks of throwing the toys out of the pram at them not doing as well since the 50/50 voting was re-introduced, as the big five rule as been in place for over a decade! Their last few entries have been complete and utter crap, the flops serve them right.
December 15, 201212 yr And WTF at Turkey's reason for withdrawing, smacks of throwing the toys out of the pram at them not doing as well since the 50/50 voting was re-introduced, as the big five rule as been in place for over a decade! Their last few entries have been complete and utter crap, the flops serve them right. And they haven't even been flopping if you ignore 2011! The big 5 rarely beat them - so that's hardly affected them. They are probably the country with the LEAST leg to stand on with this. Sure they often aren't helped by the jury, but they have a huge diaspora keeping them afloat - and if they sent a good song they'd probably get another victory, seeing what got them into the top 10 this year. It just makes NO SENSE. They probably have another reason for withdrawing that they'd rather not make public.
December 19, 201212 yr There is another reason - a pollitical one. Basically Turkey hasn't been accepted into the European union and it doesn't look like it will be anytime soon, so they are aligning themselves more with the middle East, meaning a more conservative style of dress, music etc. Believe it or not Sertab and Hadise upset a lot of people (Hadise is a bit of a national laughing stock apparently) who thought that the sexual side of Turkish culture shouldn't be shown. It's sad, but Eurovision just isn't the image Turkey wants to have anymore...
