Loads of countries haven't even chosen their songs, plus final version of a few songs that are already chosen have not been released yet. So have patience.

I feel the quality is really good this year :) and there is still 13 countries that haven't chosen/presented their song yet.
I've just found out my exam timetable for May, and the two exams I have during Eurovision week are on Wednesday and Friday, the days after the semis. :( Well that will complicate matters, I was going to organise my revision around it anyway but I was hoping for anything BUT that.
Luckily all of my exams seem to be in June this time, unlike last year when I had a similar situation to you!
Bitches PLEASE. All my life (probably not oops) I had exams happening days before exams and I DID JUST FINE (and I'm a bigger fan therefore had louder SQUEES than y'all so y'all shouldn't worry AT ALL).
But 2011 had Lena's 3 minute shit verse aka the best Eurovision entry ever! And err... Eric Saade.
2011 was AWFUL

2012 was THE TITS

END

Hard to disagree. So I won't.

2009>>>>2010>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>2011>>2012

2009 and 2010 was great, 2011 and 2012 was average.

I guess I'm the only one who thought 2010 was crap in all aspects.

2009 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 2012 > 2011 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 2010.

2013 is coming closer and closer to dark age Eurovision for me.

Here's a top 10 odds update based on the best odds available according to Oddschecker. Those entries in italics are ones that have yet to be chosen or heard.

Germany at 20/1? Bargain!

I agree! And Georgia at 33/1 must be a good choice for an each-way bet at least! :o Likewise maybe Finland at 40/1 and Slovenia at 150/1 might be other interesting bets!

Eurovision forum's 'descrition' thingy is A BIT OUT OF DATE dontcha think?

"With Blue's contemporary pop hit I Can bringing the UK kicking and screaming into the 21st Century after a decade of kitsch, have the BBC finally rediscovered the formula for international success?"

The answer to this is 'LOL HAHAHA NO'.

:D

Does anybody know where I can find these sort of meme's of the Eurovision contestants?

Several sources are now reporting a slight change to the scoring system. It seems that the juries and the televoting too will rank entries from 1st to 26th, rather than ranking just the top 10.

Lena and Blue finished 10th and 11th in 2011, Lena was much more consistent with the jury and televote whereas Blue were only successful with the televote. Using the overall televote/jury positions (even though this new rule is applying to individual juries), let's see what the effect is.

Lena (Original voting system) 9th in televote, 10th in jury = (2+1) 3 points

Lena (New voting system) 9th in televote, 10th in jury = (17+16) 33 points

Blue (Original voting system) 5th in televote, 22nd in jury = (6+0) 6 points

Blue (New voting system) 5th in televote, 22nd in jury = (21+4) 25 points

Therefore, for an individual country's votes, the original voting system would have given higher points to Blue - whereas the new voting system benefits the more consistent Lena to give her the highest points!

This aims negate the effect of disapora voting further as well as disadvantage the novelty songs that benefit from a high televote.

Hope that all makes sense! :D

What. I don't get this. If the scoring system of the juries changes then the televoting system must change too. And they surely cannot get away from the classic 12, 10, 8, etc. system.
Surely this is just ranking all the entries by a different points system... THEN the top 10 are presented in the traditional way. It's just a fairer way of establishing the top 10 if I've got it correctly.

Yep, exactly! Once all of the scores are working out, the top 10 then receive the normal Eurovision points. I've found another example on ESC Forum that highlights how much votes can change on an individual country basis (its long, but its very interesting):

Slovenian televoting in semi 1:

1. Serbia

2. Croatia

3. Montenegro

4. Austria

5. Russia

6. Ukraine

7. Belarus

8. Cyprus

9. Moldova

10. Lithuania

11. Estonia

12. The Netherlands

13. Denmark

14. Ireland

15. Belgium

Slovenian jury vote in semi 1:

1. Denmark

2. Croatia

3. The Netherlands

4. Russia

5. Moldova

6. Ireland

7. Cyprus

8. Ukraine

9. Austria

10. Belgium

11. Estonia

12. Montenegro

13. Ireland

14. Belarus

15. Serbia

16. Lithuania

The combination is direct sum of those (new system), so the official votes of Slovenia will be:

1st - Croatia (12 pts)

2nd - Russia (10 pts)

3rd - Austria (8 pts)

4th - Ukraine (7 pts)

5th - Moldova (6 pts)

6th - Denmark (5 pts)

7th - Montenegro (4 pts)

8th - Cyprus (3 pts)

9th - The Netherlands (2 pts)

10th - Serbia (1 pt)

Notice how the televoting winner (Serbia) barely gets in the Top 10 and risks having no points at all under other circumstances.

If the old system was used, with ranking on 12-1pts scale, then the same televoting from up there will be Serbia 12, Croatia 10, Montenegro 8, ... Lithuanua 1 (the rest 0). And the jury ranking will be Denmark 12, Croatia 10, the Netherlands 8,... Belgium 1 (the rest 0). Now if you combine those, the overall votes of Slovenia would be different:

12 - Croatia

10 - Russia

8 - Serbia (!!!!!!!!!!!)

7 - Denmark

6 - Austria

5 - Montenegro

4 - Ukraine

3 - Moldova

2 - the Netherlands

1 - Cyprus

As you can see, in this particular case the 10 countries are the same, but the points they receive are different. In other cases though even the 10 countries would differ slightly.

seems a fair change tbh, but points will be so much higher and it'll probably be known who wins after a few voting rounds or am I missing something?
