Posted July 20, 201213 yr Wondered if anyone else periodically compares what they liked waybackwhen with what they like now? My tastes change over the years and records fall in and out of favour and back again, so it's in a state of flux. Some records and artists seem better with hindsight, others you wonder what you saw in them at the time! The second number after the position is how they finished up in my year-end-chart of 2000. Sandstorm, for instance, has improved vastly after the event.....! 2000 was a better year than 1999, but both years were low points in the history of pop. While there were some great records around, there were few acts firing on all cylinders with quality material, bar Robbie, Pet Shop Boys, Shelby Lynn and it turns out Kylie. Kylie's comeback I liked at the time, but I'd never been what you call a fan prior to that, the records had to win me over on merit. I saw her in concert and I became a fan, with many album tracks off Light Years proving to be much better than the singles chosen at the time.
