Posted July 21, 201212 yr Isn't it typical - you wait 109 years with no British podium place, then two come along at once...
July 21, 201212 yr It's a bit like the upcomung London Olympics. Cycling is the only sporting event where Great Britain have a realistic chance of winning the gold medal. Maybe diving too but I'm not quite as convinced. Still, it's brilliant to see Britain performing well in sporting events. :D

July 22, 201212 yr I didn't even know there *was* one - it took me several years to even know *this* one existed! :P I suppose ignorance is bliss. Goodbye :D Congratulations to Wiggins, incredible achievement although the Independent doing a two page spread today asking "is this Britain's greatest ever sportsman?" seemed a bit far. Was great to see him lead Cavendish into the sprint finish as well.
July 22, 201212 yr Although he did incredibly well I definitely do not think it is Britain's greatest sporting achievement by any stretch, especially since Team Sky orchestrated everything so Wiggins would win out of their team!

No I'd say winning the football world cup ranks higher even though it was a century ago.
