In case anyone like old charts that are not quite that old...here's what I was liking and loving in September 2012. I'd just been dumped so was feeling a bit sorry for myself, the top two songs dominated my summer of rejection. Kosheen's best record by far, dont know why it wasnt a hit, and the lyrics to Walk On By...? If you've been dumped, and never listened to the lyrics, they say it all really.

Plenty of pop divas in here as well as the more indie stuff and some oldies. I'm a complete musical slag - I'll go with any musical genre, never met one I wouldn't enjoy - as long as it's done well and has something interesting in it.

sorry for the format, it was a 5-week month, but the columns have copied a bit oddly, the lower down the list the later in the month they entered the chart.

My lovely Heidi Range gave a new life for Sugababes in 2002. It's most successful group in my charts from 1997 to 2012 and maybe even have more #1 singles, than ABBA, if I add my retro charts from 70s and 80s. But I never like their # 1 hits "Round Round", "Freak Like Me", "Hole In The Head", they were in top 5, but didn't reach # 1 in my charts. "Stronger" was first huge hit in November-December and # 1 song of the year.

Songs from your chart, which were in my tops:

Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Get Over You (# 1)

Shakira - Underneath Your Clothes (top 3)

Atomic Kitten - The Tide Is High (top 10), original from Blondie was # 1 in retro charts.

Hear'Say - Lovin' Is Easy (top 10)

Appleton - Fantasy (top 10)

Vanessa Carlton - A Thousand Miles (top 10)

Anastacia - Why'd You Lie To Me (top 20)

Celine Dion - I'm Alive (top 20)

Natalie Imbruglia - Beauty On The Fire (top 20)

Holly Valance - Down Boy (top 40)

Kylie Minogue - Love At First Sight (top 40)

Most successful artists in my charts were: H & Claire (all their 3 singles were # 1 and B-side "Beauty and The Beast") and Sugababes (6 weeks # 1 for "Stronger")

Thanks Alex, Sugababes had a long run of consistently good singles - it even looks like we may have two versions soon! Mutya had a massive solo number one in my chart, (equivalent in chart points to a million seller), and Freak Like Me was a NUmber one, but I pretty much liked them from the first single onwards. I must do a chartlist for all sugababes-related hits:)

Although I was never a fan of Steps, I liked a few singles, but the H & Claire first single Hey DJ was really good I thought, don't recall the follow-ups without checking my charts!

Sophie Ellis Bextor has had a few NUmber Ones in mycharts, Kylie's had loads of number one's, Blondie too, Shakira's had one, Anastacia's had one, Natalie Imbruglia had one, Appleton peaked at 2 and so has Celine Dion. So I like a lot of artists in your list!:)

OK, I am huge Steps fan (Most their singles were my # 1, I like most mixed UK pop groups in ABBA style : Bucks Fizz, Steps, Scooch, Brotherhood Of Man, New Seekers e.t.c.), but H & Claire were even better. "Another You, Another Me" is my all-time favourite # 1 album.

Artists with 10 and more # 1 singles in my charts (most possible # 1 hits, most my retro charts are not finished)

1. Sugababes

2. Blondie

3. ABBA (Most my favourite ABBA songs never were singles: That's Me, When I Kissed A Teacher, Dissilusion, I Am Just A Girl e.t.c)

4. Steps (Claire Richards is most successful singer in my charts, if include Steps, TSD, H & Claire + her solo "Hand On Your Heart")

5. Madonna (Most successful solo artist, with many retro # 1s from first 4 albums, but she don't have # 1 after "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" in 1996. Maybe she is a leader with most # 1 singles)

6. Shania Twain

7. Britney Spears

8. Sophie Ellis Bextor

If I try to complete 60s decade, so France Gall also can have 10+ # 1 singles.

Possible : Girls Aloud, Dido, Bucks Fizz, Kylie Minogue, Amy Macdonald

Must heard more songs: Olivia Newton-John, Mariah Carey, Maywood

Everything Abba Released (except Ring Ring, So Long, I Do I Do which all did well) made my Number One, including many album tracks too, so I think you could say I was bit of a fan. Only The Beatles and Pet Shop Boys are on a par with Abba in my affections:)

Madonna has had at least 20-odd number 1's in my chart:)

BUcks Fizz were great saw them live many times, about 5 number ones, Livvie had 2, Shania 1, Britney's had about4 or 5, including the best dance record of this century (Toxic), Mariah 1, Girls Aloud 2, Dido 1....so yes like all them:)

John, How many songs were your # 1s?

I've not counted exactly, Alex, but it started in 1968 and is still going, it's at least 1200 I'd say. The first ones to get 3 number one's were Mary Hopkin, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Middle Of The Road, New Seekers, T.Rex... If yuo dont know Middle Of The Road, you might like Soley Soley and Talk Of The USA. Maybe:)
