A general :o at all three comments saying 'Summertime Sadness' isn't amongst their main faves. I've adored this song ever since I bought the album and it's great to see this doing well in several European countries - especially after 'Born To Die' (the single) didn't quite take off in Europe the way I had expected it to.

 

'Runaways' is a decent single but my excitement for the track pales in comparison to that of 'Human' which I was obsessed with from the moment I heard that track for the first time (it spent 6 weeks at no. 1 in my chart in 2008 :D ).

 

Some of the K-Pop songs I've discovered through BJSC haven't quite grabbed my attention and covert me into a K-Popper as the dirty synth slutty-esque tracks just don't match the innocent looking singers. Imagine a 3 year old girl dolled up in make up and singing 'Like A Virgin' by Madonna. A bit like that for me!!! :D With PSY, 'Gangnam Style' is a brilliant slice of cheesey dance music and the music video just enhances this to a whole new level of cheesey genius (cheesius - new word for the dictionary 2013 :o ).

 

'Settle Down' has been pushed back to next week which is basically "the single release has been cancelled but you can cherry pick the song from the album when it's released on Monday". I don't know who posted it, but they were spot on in suggesting albums should be released on a Sunday. That could actually be such a brilliant move - most people tend to download on Sunday. If albums were released on a Sunday, it'd get a full 7 days of sales and would prevent albums selling so badly - and people have an extra day to cherry pick album tracks. Surely it's the way forward. Anyways, I'm quite sure 'Settle Down' will bomb in the UK which is a shame because I do like the track a lot.

Have to admit, I was surprised this never made the UK top 10. I've always regarded The Killers as being one of those bands who seem to be most successful here. I guess the fans have just waited for the album rather than buying the single.

In the end Amelia missed out by 9k. I regard it as a chart justice that Amelia gets a #2 single whilst Marcus got to #9 with a lukewarm cover. I still only think this is marginally better than 'Home Run' and for me personally, it's a not a brilliant song. Good, but not brilliant.

Is the new single still going to be 'My Heart Is Refusing Me', or something else? Proof that I still enjoy listening to this song - last Friday evening I caught the last part of Clubland TV's Your Top 10 and this was the no. 1 video so naturally I got all :D at seeing the live performance again (notice how they didn't play the official video!!! :lol: ) so Loreen bagged herself an impressive 27th week on the chart. Will probably drop out next week - it's now officially out of GD's top 50. What a flop!!! :kink:

It actually made my pre-release chart because it was already charting on iTunes. I'm so happy it's made the UK top 40 and hope it continues climbing up the charts over the coming weeks. If it can become a massive hit in the US, then the UK have to follow suit. :D

01 (--) Lana Del Rey - Summertime Sadness (01) [1 wk] I didn't expect the track to chart at #1 so quick, its not my favourite track on the album though :o

 

'Summertime Sadness' :wub: I personally love it so there you go. :P What is your favourite album track on 'Born To Die' (ie; that hasn't been released as a single). I do think they've got the choice of singles spot on.

 

09 (06) Churches - Lies (09-06-09) [3 wks] This is still my current #1 track in my personal chart I just love it to bits

 

'Lies' is a great track - got my 10 points in BJSC but it's not been able to compete with the likes of Owl City, Of Monsters And Men, Pink and Little Mix. If the UK charts had recently been dominated by tracks I didn't like then there's no doubt Churches would've benefitted more.

Gosh!!! What was going on there for the track to have such a chaotic chart run? :lol: As I've already mentioned, it's been one of my absolute faves since the first time I listened to the album.

 

No Doubt most likely will enter next week despite the track not being available to buy on iTunes until next week. :drama: I think in this case, an OA/OS release might have actually been a better idea.
