May 22, 201312 yr And has total sales less than 1/30th of her debut album released just 5 years ago, which has to be one of the most severe and quickest rates of diminishing returns in history. Alexandra's second album sold 1/80th of her debut. Plus, it was a pretty publicised flop.
May 22, 201312 yr Author Danny, you should really do some research on both Alexandra and Leona. Alexandra's second album was a collection of "generic faceless dance-pop songs" because once she moved to RCA UK (who are broke) the original idea for her second album (originally due in 2011 with a more R&B sound and big producers) had to be scrapped and she was instead lumbered with budget dance tracks. And the Leona situation has been mentioned so many times before so I really can't be asked to go into it. Anyway, both can easily make comebacks. Alex needs to crack the US market before trying the UK again while Leona needs to search for better management. Sadly, these two were completely mishandled by Syco/Modest.
May 22, 201312 yr I think Leona still has a chance of a comeback, nowhere near as successful though. Alexandra on the other hand has no chance.
May 23, 201312 yr Neither Alexandra and Leona will have a great comeback I don't think. Leona has a bigger chance to come back like 5 years down the line and have a hit maybe like J-Lo did with 'On The Floor', at least she has a big enough name for herself, but if I am honest, I doubt she will. Alexandra will never have another top 20 single, I would put money on that.
May 23, 201312 yr I agree, I doubt radio would bother playing Alexandra, her album was arguably the biggest flop within the last couple of years, the difference with Leona and Alexandra is that Leona is quite successful around Europe.
May 23, 201312 yr I think she may be able to bounce back, Alex is a fighter! It'll take a hell lot of work but if she cracks the US, Europe will follow and Australia is within reach and the UK might start hating her less.

May 26, 201312 yr I'm hoping Alexandra can return with a decent hit. There was nothing wrong with "Elephant" and "Let It Go" necessarily, they just sounded generic and dated. Even as a fan, I'm yet to give the second album a listen - the reviews put me right off.

Aside from the singles, 'Tonight' and 'Love You That Much' (although really cheesy and throwaway) are the only really worthwhile tracks although it's not that bad an album. I like the 90s vibe it has.

May 27, 201312 yr Author I think 'Tonight' and 'Elephant' were the only GOOD songs on that album. I remember listening to the album previews twice and I thought it was a budget mess. I'm hoping Alex has managed to secure actually finance for this next project. She's got pretty cool management so hopefully things are looking up and we will never have to confront that HOH mess again.
May 27, 201312 yr Tonight, Fire and Beating Still! What is 'Beating Still'? I think 'Tonight' and 'Elephant' were the only GOOD songs on that album. May 27, 201312 yr 'Elephant' and 'Let It Go' were both dreadful so it's no wonder Alexandra bombed. I agree with the comment about listening to Rebecca Ferguson's album and taking notes. As others have posted, with the right material Alexandra could easily have a big comeback. Same with Leona Lewis. They just need some really strong tracks to revive their careers.
May 27, 201312 yr What is 'Beating Still'? 'Let It Go' dumps all over 'Elephant' from a great height for a start. Beating Still was a bonus track on the Deluxe Version
May 27, 201312 yr Author 'Let It Go' dumps all over 'Elephant' from a great height for a start. 'Let It Go' was plagued with embarrassingly dated production, lyrical cliches throughout, a weak melody and a chorus that makes the one on 'Scream & Shout' look vaguely interesting. 'Elephant' has none of those flaws. ^_^
May 27, 201312 yr Well Let it Go is the best song she's ever done so i have to respectfully disagree.
May 27, 201312 yr Alexandra can definitely make a comeback, although it wasn't majorly successful there are still some tracks on her 2nd album I liked :)
June 6, 201312 yr Alexandra Burke has parted ways with her record label, five years after winning Simon Cowell's talent show 'The X Factor'. The 24-year-old split with RCA last month, after her second album 'Heartbreak on Hold' flopped in the charts and sold just 6,731 copies in the first week of release, The Daily Mail reports. A source told the paper that it was a case of "the label being unhappy with Alexandra and Alexandra was unhappy with the label. There didn't seem any point in continuing". Burke's winning 'X Factor' number one single 'Hallelujah' holds the record for the most sales over 24 hours, selling 105,000 in just one day. However, the London star's last single, 'Let It Go', only reached number 33 in the UK singles chart. The 'Bad Boy' singer left Cowell's record label Syco in 2011 to sign to RCA and it's now thought she is attempting to launch an R&B career Stateside. Sending a clear message to her fans that she hasn't quit the music business, Burke tweeted: @alexandramusic Alexandra Burke Working hard in the studio creating something special for my fans which is coming soon :) ... June 6, 2013 4:50 am via Twitter for BlackBerry® Reply Retweet Favorite In June last year Burke was also rumoured to have been dropped by RCA, but she laughed it off at the time, writing on Twitter: "Rumours rumours rumours! Lol. Facts are way more fun! Don’t believe everything you hear and read." In May it was reported Burke has signed a new management deal with Kevin Liles, the former president of Def Jam records. Liles is known for launching the careers of Jay-Z and Kanye West among others, and went on to be executive vice president for Warner Music Group before leaving in 2009. Digital Spy reports a source said: "Kevin met Alex and was really impressed by her. He thinks she can be a global star. She is releasing an album later this year." I wonder if she'll get another record deal now? Probably not. Anyway, no one could have said that wasn't coming. EDIT: Oh whoops, I read the whole article, she is recording new music. It probably won't be a success though. Edited June 6, 201312 yr by グリフ
