Posted September 20, 201212 yr Rarely have I seen a song attract such divergent opinions, so I thought I might as well try to quantify them. Didn't seem worth adding a position poll though, as the outcome looks inevitable.
September 20, 201212 yr Hate it, but prob deserves no1 next week as its an 'Of its time no1 record' which catch the publics imagination!
September 20, 201212 yr LOVE IT. I like how you've put the hate at the top too to try and influence the decision :kink:
September 20, 201212 yr Author LOVE IT. I like how you've put the hate at the top too to try and influence the decision :kink: I doubt it would have made any difference if the choices had been reversed. :) Besides, if I *had* done it the other way round, I'd have been just as succeptible to the reverse suggestion... :P Edited September 20, 201212 yr by vidcapper
September 20, 201212 yr Miles better than anything LMFAO have done including that annoyingly popular "Party Rock Anthem", hopefully it goes to #1 and spends a good few weeks there (seeing off annoying held-back releases) because it has to end the endless glut of dull, predictable records that are topping the chart at the moment. September 20, 201212 yr It's awful. But addictive. :( (I guess that means I like it?) Edited September 20, 201212 yr by Juranamo

Whilst I voted dislike, it's hard to disagree with this (apart from it being better than Party Rock Anthem, as it clearly isn't). Edit: I'd also quite like to see it do well because it might mean less posts on here about how xenophobic the UK public are towards music (though I doubt it!) and help prove me right that if something is given enough promotion and attention people WILL buy it!
September 20, 201212 yr Author Edit: I'd also quite like to see it do well because it might mean less posts on here about how xenophobic the UK public are towards music Given our charts are often half-full of US music, that's hardly a credible claim anyway. :)
September 20, 201212 yr I honestly find LMFAO to be better. They're like... in a different league for novelty, if that makes any sense. njrmL1y3ul8 Whereas PSY is only a few steps away from being this. ^ Though with admittedly better production and all that. And yes, the fact it's in a foreign language would make it more of a novelty for most people.

Somehow I doubt it. I'm getting the impression that it's all "ha!ha!ha! It's so funny, half of it isn't even in English!", so by that reckoning it'd make it worse?
September 20, 201212 yr Love it, anything that can put a smile on my face and make me feel happy for 4 mins is ok in my book. :D
September 20, 201212 yr Given our charts are often half-full of US music, that's hardly a credible claim anyway. :) Remind me what language do Americans speak (and sing in) because I CAN'T QUITE REMEMBER? I know it rhymes with 'English'. US acts are the ones that tend to break out worldwide often though. However nothing else is allowed into the charts. "Ok, we'll let Bieber in but only because he's huge in the States. NOBODY ELSE. WE ARE NOT XENOPHOBIC AT ALL." Edited September 20, 201212 yr by ◢p◣

September 20, 201212 yr xen·o·pho·bi·a/ˌzēnəˈfōbēə/ Noun: Intense or irrational dislike or fear of people from other countries. The USA is another country. To me USA and UK are insanely similar (apart from left-side driving and tea off the top of my head). PLUS y'all can understand each other. And let's be honest the whole xenophobia thing is largely based on the language barrier and big culture differences. OH HE'S AN AMERICAN HE'S GOING TO COME TO THE UK AND START DRIVING ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD AND EVERYONE WILL FOLLOW SUIT. WE'RE GOING TO LOSE OUR ESSENSE.
September 20, 201212 yr The UK don't take to all US music, Country music remains very unpopular here. Some worldwide hits just don't have crossover appeal to a UK audience for whatever reason, it doesn't mean that we're xenophobic, the US are far more guilty of that than us anyway... I don't love Gangnam Style, but I like its self-awareness and fun factor just like I liked Party Rock Anthem. Plus, it going to number 1 would only emphasise how diverse a year its been for number 1s in the UK
